Have you ever thought about when Wind Speeds are too high for your Mountain Activities?
Different Wind Speeds can have a different affect on your your balance, your ability to walk and your safety in the mountains 💨
The Mountain Weather Information Service Mountain Weather categories Wind Speed in the following:
Under 10-15 mph --> Negligible Impact
10-15 mph to 20-25 mph --> Fairly small gusts, wind may begin to inconvenience walking.
20-25 to 30-35mph --> Wind will likely impede ease of walking and start affecting balance.
30-35 to 45-55mph --> Walking becomes strenuous or increasingly arduous, considerable buffeting, stronger gusts may knock you off your feet.
50-60mph+ --> Very difficult conditions. Any mobility becomes challenging, tortuous, becoming near-impossible as speeds rise. Powerful gusts can knock you over.
