Creating supportive workplaces starts with conversations.

It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with the team at leading a Lunch & Learn on perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause alongside Suzy Glaskie

We explored what happens to the body during this stage of life, the role of nutrition and movement, and practical tools to build resilience and support wellbeing at work and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who joined us with such openness, curiosity and thoughtful questions. And thank you to Fladgate for recognising the importance of creating an environment where people feel informed, supported and able to talk openly about menopause.

Every conversation helps make workplaces more inclusive for everyone.
We hope everyone came away with a fresh mindset, practical tools and the reassurance that small changes really can make a big difference.

Some days stay with you. This was one of them.
It was a real privilege to meet 97 year old Holocaust survivor Arek Hersch and to watch him spend time with a room full of Year 6 children.
I’ve been asked a few times what made it so special. It wasn’t just hearing his story. It was watching the way he told it.
There was warmth, humour and so much kindness. He wasn’t trying to frighten the children or burden them with the horrors of the past. He simply shared his life, answered every question with patience and made each child feel that their curiosity mattered.
One moment has stayed with me.
We’d been chatting beforehand about names and nicknames – how children have pet names that parents and grandparents use, the names their friends call them, the names that make them who they are. Then Arek quietly rolled up his sleeve.
As these children looked at the faded Auschwitz tattoo on his arm, the contrast was overwhelming. At about their age, someone had tried to strip away his identity. No name. No nickname. Just a number.
You could almost feel the room holding its breath.
Yet what will stay with me even more than that moment was the man standing in front of them. A man who, despite everything he endured, still chooses kindness over hatred, hope over bitterness and humanity over division.
That, for me, is his greatest lesson.
The final question came from one little boy.
“Can I have a hug?”
After everything Arek had shared, after everything those children had learned, it somehow felt like the perfect ending.
In a world that can often feel divided, I left believing even more strongly that stories build bridges, that education changes hearts, and that kindness is one of the most powerful legacies we can leave the next generation.
Let’s hope .org.uk you can go from strength to strength to help implement this!

Some moments in life are truly once in a lifetime, and this month I experienced one of them.

I had the incredible honour of marrying my godson to the love of his life in beautiful Dorset. After months of writing, planning, researching and personalising every part of the ceremony, seeing it all come together was incredibly special. Every late night and every hour of preparation was worth it.

The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. Being back in Dorset brought back so many wonderful memories of family holidays and happy times spent there over the years. It has always held a special place in my heart, and now it holds another unforgettable memory.

Standing in front of family and friends to lead such an important moment was a huge responsibility. There were certainly times when I wondered how I would keep my emotions in check, but somehow I managed to put them to one side and focus on giving Olly and Lydia the ceremony they deserved.

Who knew that in my 50s I’d be officiating a wedding? I think a few people left wondering if I was about to announce a surprise career change! 😂 To be fair, even the minister texted afterwards to say it was “a privilege to be there” and that it was “so inspiring”. Perhaps I’ve found my backup plan after all!

Then again, maybe I simply learned from the best. Dad, perhaps some of your wisdom, warmth and storytelling rubbed off on me after all.

Then, after it was all over, I received a message that I will treasure forever:

“Thank you. It was the perfect wedding for us. I mean what I said in my speech. You’ve never made me feel like I should be anything but myself. Love you loads Godmum xx”

I don’t think I could ask for anything more, and I hope I can continue to live by my own advice!

To be entrusted with one of the most important days of someone’s life is a privilege beyond words. My heart is full, and I will carry this memory with me forever.

Congratulations, Mr & Mrs Jobling. Have the most wonderful life together ❤️

A weekend full of love, laughter, family memories and a reminder that sometimes the most unexpected experiences turn out to be the most rewarding!

A week on and I’m still absolutely full of pride thinking about Maddy running the Hackney Half.

She’s had ME and there have been some really tough chapters in the last few years where even everyday life (& walking) has felt like a massive struggle. One of the ways she’s slowly rebuilt herself has been through movement — starting really gently and gradually building her stamina, strength and confidence again. Seeing her use that as part of her recovery has been incredible.

This wasn’t “just” a half marathon. It was her proving to herself how far she’s come, and doing it in her own way, at her own pace, without giving up.

And the most special part… she ran it with Charlotte and crossed the finish line together. For Maddy, Charlotte was a huge part of getting her through the toughest bits, and that support and bond really says it all.

She’s fundraising for the ME Association because of her own experience with ME and how much more awareness, research and support is still needed.

Still feeling so proud of her!

If anyone would like to support her fundraising, here’s her page:

So proud to have led such an amazing group at the Hale2Hale Giant Walk today 🥾
One of those days that reminds you how special people can be — encouraging each other, pushing through, and crossing the finish together.
Loved meeting so many brilliant people along the way and helping coach/lead others to the finish 🏅
And lovely to meet Sally from “the Street” too 😊 who said if I lead her, she’ll do it next year 😉👟

Stepped out of my comfort zone this week and onto the stage 🎭

I’ve done musicals before, but this Agatha Christie play felt like a whole new challenge (thank you and for persuading me!) — learning lines, hitting cues, and remembering where I’m meant to be… all while sometimes not even remembering why I walked into a room in real life 😅

But honestly… I LOVED it.

There’s something incredibly empowering about pushing yourself, stepping into a character, and realising you’re capable of more than you think. Every rehearsal, every moment on stage built confidence in a way I didn’t expect.

And the grey wig? gave me a little glimpse into the future 👵🏻😂 . Apparently I looked just like my mum ❤️. She couldn’t be there in the end as she wasn’t well enough — man plans, God laughs — but I know she was there in spirit, which made it all feel even more special.

Feeling so grateful for the amazing support from family and friends, and for such a brilliant cast to share my hobby with, even rekindling old friendships!

I see the difference movement makes — every single week.

Week after week I watch people become steadier on their feet, stronger in their bodies, and brighter in themselves. Movement improves balance, confidence, mood and connection — and it genuinely changes how people experience their later years.

In my Knutsford class we keep it playful and varied. We work on coordination and dexterity (often with something as simple as tennis-ball games), move through circuits, use resistance bands and weights, and focus on core strength, balance and agility. It’s functional, it’s achievable — and it works.

The results go far beyond physical strength. I see confidence grow, fear of falling reduce, friendships form and joy return to movement.

If you care about someone as they get older — especially if they’re slowing down, feeling isolated or losing confidence in their body — encourage them to move, ideally in a class with others. Movement, especially together, really matters.

Joy, pride, love, gratitude — all wrapped up in this moment. ❤️

What a week! 💃🎭
Performing in Guys and Dolls has pushed me right out of my comfort zone — learning dance moves, singing, and being part of such a fun, talented cast of all ages.

There was so much communal effervescence — that wonderful buzz of shared energy, laughter, and joy that comes from creating something together. Backstage was full of fun, kindness, and camaraderie — a real community spirit that reminded me how powerful it is to connect through creativity.

As writes in The Joy of Movement, “Joy is an ancient emotion that connects us to life and to one another.”
I truly felt that this week — through movement, music, and being part of something bigger than myself.

And let’s not forget the power of singing — it lifts your mood, strengthens your lungs, releases endorphins, and bonds people in the most joyful way. It’s such a tonic for body and mind. 🎶

It’s been amazing for my health, confidence, and joy — especially in midlife, when dance moves and lines take a little longer to stick! Proof that it’s never too late to try something new, move your body, and let yourself shine on stage (or wherever your passion takes you!).

So here’s my challenge to you: go find your passion and joy! Join a local group — amateur dramatics, painting, singing, dancing, anything that makes you feel alive. You’ll find community, laughter, and a whole lot of joy waiting for you.

Feeling grateful, energised, and slightly amazed I remembered all the moves — well, most of them!

Such a joy to team up with my friend and colleague Suzy for a Menopause Awareness Day session with the brilliant team at

We shared simple, evidence-based ways to find calm in the middle of busy working lives — helping women in midlife reconnect with their focus, energy and confidence 💪

The feedback says it all “Best productive hour spent this month!”
“Such a positive, uplifting session!”

Let’s not lose brilliant women to burnout or overwhelm.
Support them. Educate them. Empower them.
It’s inspiring to see organisations like leading the way and showing their women they truly matter 💛

That’s exactly why we created Second Spring Wellbeing — to help women step into this chapter feeling strong, supported and thriving.
