JUNE PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

Every month we’re shouting out some of the great talent at our club

ALCC 1st XI
Harry has changed the momentum of a number of games with his aggressive style, and found a way to consistently score runs . He has proved to be a reliable player with a batting average over 30 and a bowling average below 20.

ALCC 2nd XI
Robin has had some excellent bowling spells, offering both control and wickets. He has 12 wickets in June at an average of 14.3, and has had a 4-fer against Rock in the cup and a 5-fer in the league against Benwell and Walbottle. He has also contributed valuable runs in the lower order, building much needed partnerships.

HOWICK
Michael has taken 10 wickets this month and this included a 6 wicket haul, earning him his first of hopefully many, club caps. At only 16 years of age a great achievement, once he adds economy to his wicket taking, he shall be a force to be reckoned with as he progresses.
He has also scored an impressive 123 runs throughout June, with some really mature innings and providing much needed composure and ballast to the middle order. A high of 51 no, a true credit to his dogged determination to not give his wicket away lightly.

ALCC WOMENS
A devoted player for the women, Ellie makes sure she gives her all in every game she plays. She is a massive support to the team and always encouraging the junior players on and off the pitch. Her consistent bowling always takes a wicket when needed, and usually the player we need out most with a 1-18 against Cramlington and a 1-14 against Bates Cottages.

Unfortunately, it was a weekend of poor results for the first and second team with both sides falling short in run chases against Swalwell. Howick provided a little respite with a strong batting performance away at Mitford. Impressive knocks from Finn Hilton and Graeme McDonald, saw Howick post a very competitive total before the rain came.

With low availability across the club, a big thank you to everyone who turned out for us across all three Saturday teams.

We go again this weekend.

It feels just like that new-car-day feeling.

You may have noticed our ground is looking pretty lovely as of late? Yes we do have some of the best groundsman in the league, but we also have a lovely new wicket cutter thanks to donations from Sport England, Lesbury Parish Council and the Sir James Knott Trust.

Their support helps to keep our pitch game ready by maintaining a high-quality, safe playing surface for all of our teams as our club continues to grow, so a big thanks for all the ongoing support.
