A smart run for Nibbles in the BE100 at the beautiful yesterday for a double clear bang on the optimum time XC 💪 ……. However, his dressage test was comparable to a 5 year old child doing an interpretive dance routine to the can-can music. Some extra moves that were not required did dent our finishing score! But it’s very heartening to see that he’s prepared to trash a dressage test in his exuberance to go and jump the jumps and the sound of a cross country tannoy is enough to fry his tiny brain. A few little ideas in place before we embark on our next run at Burgham in a couple of weeks and some young future superstars to unveil before then.

A hot trip to for the 3* dressage on Wednesday didn’t pay off for us as Oscar sadly came home with a grumbly tummy. He pulled a very respectable test out of the bag but having arrived home on Wednesday evening, ahead of returning today for SJ and XC, it was clear he was uncomfortable. Inevitably and without question we have withdrawn and will re-route. A huge thanks to who has overseen his care, and thanks to her dedication and rapid response he’s back to his normal self - pesting for treats!

Wow! did not disappoint and neither did the boys. Oscar finished a very credible 5th in the Intermediate on his campaign and Nibbles finished 4th in his first BE100. Only Nibbles’ second event after a career on the hunting field for the early part of his life, his dressage work is beautiful but he still needs to understand why he is cantering in circles in white boards - all a work in progress but the judges loved him and he left the fly bucks out of his test this time.

Both boys absolutely cruised round the imposing cross country courses which rode so well.

South of Scotland is an absolute go-to for Cheshire eventers, easy travelling straight up the M6, absolutely beautiful big bold courses designed by and built by . The going was absolutely foot perfect in both the SJ arena and on the XC course. Subsidised stabling, lorry parking on hard standing and a very welcoming team meant that we will definitely be back next year!

None of this is possible without our amazing team, my best mate who keeps me and the boys in order and the wonderful team who work so hard to get these horses and all of the other horses in our care ready to go to competitions like this.
