Sunday afternoon rugby returned to Kings Coughton when the Colts opened their 2022/23 season against Kidderminster Carolians Colts.
From the kick off the game ebbed and flowed between both teams, with positive periods of play from both however it was the opposition that crossed the white wash first.
Repeated infringements and missed tackles put Alcester on the back foot and Kiddy scored again.
The indiscipline continue and Riley ending up taking a 10 minute rest after the referee's patience ran out.
During this period we conceded a third try and the half time break saw us down 0-26.
After a pep talk from the coaches the lads came out with intent and played aggressive 'in their face' rugby, forcing the opposition onto the back foot and the game turned on its head.
Suddenly it was Alcester on the front foot and it wasn't long before Jack Williams crashed over for our opening score, closely followed by James Freeman and Oli Pittaway, with 2 conversions from Freddie White, to bring the game within 1 score, 19-26.
The next points would be vital and unfortunately they went against us, proving pivotal and the game went away from us after that.
At the final whistle it was 19-49 which did not reflect the game played.
Following the game debutants Josh Grosvenor and Josh Ellis received their club ties.
