The biggest obstacle to learning to teach isn’t whether you can do the poses. It’s the nagging question of whether you’re good enough, or “yogic” enough 😵💫🫣. And that doubt comes from an illusion we’ve all bought into about what a yoga teacher actually is. They aren’t yogis, not in the traditional sense. They’re just normal, like you and me. And here’s the irony: it’s our obvious flaws, not the absence of them, that create the trust between students and teacher in the first place 🙏🏾
If you’ve ever quietly wondered whether you’re “good enough” to teach, that’s usually the sign you’d be good at it. Our next training starts October 2026. Link in bio.
Ageing is inevitable 😵💫, feeling OLD is something else 🧐🤷🏾♂️. Someone who can still learn is never old 🫵🏽👊🏾

These philosophical thoughts from a concert might seem odd on the surface, but with a bit of context they fit the narrative perfectly.
The new album follows the band’s own journey through reflection, self discovery, death, grief and the afterlife. The mountain is that journey. Damon Albarn went to India after losing his dad, and what he found is infused into every track.
It left me deeply contemplative and looking at things from a changed perspective. Proof, if you needed it, that we can find wisdom in the most obscure of places if we stay open to growth. We just have to be paying attention 🧐😵💫🤔🤷🏾♂️
I wrote the full reflection on love, loss and rebirth in this week’s newsletter, the parts that wouldn’t fit on a slide. Link in bio 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Today whilst training a client, he said that he felt some ‘trapped dense energy’ in his Traps 😵💫
Drake would have been proud of that line.
But he didn’t mean it in a clever way. He was serious.
🧐
So I said, bro, you have been doing yoga way too long (said in a passive aggressive breathy yoga voice). And we of course laughed at ourselves.
So it made me think… how do you know when you have been doing yoga for too long?? 🫣😃😵💫🧐🤔🤷🏾♂️🧠🫶🏽🫵🏽

Just checking in 🤍🫶🏽
This one is more a reminder to myself 😳🧐😵💫

You’ve heard this before, but what people say about you usually reflects more about them than about you. The only reason their opinions can shake you is that you’re clinging to an idea of yourself that depends on them. And here’s the irony. People come to teach yoga and, instead of finding themselves, they can drift further and further away from who they are.
Like a dog endlessly chasing its own tail 😳🫣

Yoga philosophy, or any philosophy 📚, shouldn’t hand you beliefs. It should make you wonder 💭 🤔
👇🏽
Philosophical musings from my years on and off the mat.
Take number 1. “Sometimes the one who barely knows you believes in who you are becoming, while those closest only mourn who you were.” I’m sure you’ve made friends in the yoga world who believe in you more than you believe in yourself. Further evidence that taking that step towards yoga can change your life in more ways than one 🙏🏾🫶🏽

For a while I took my fancy yoga moves for granted. Until I couldn’t do them anymore 🤮. So I thought, let me put the science to practise. Stop ✋🏽 trying too hard and trust the art of repetition. Trust the principle of adaption where the brain 🧠 adapts to the demand.
I know I always say this…. But before fancy drills and hacks…. Ask yourself, how many reps do you have under your belt?
I’m a big fan of overdoing something and running it into the ground 🫶🏽
As always, I you are interested in teacher training October 2026 or online CPDs - the links are in the bio 🙏🏾

Like most patterns of movement, balancing your weight on your arms in Yoga comes down to technique & timing. Less to do with strength than most people realise 🤔🧠.
Easy for a man to say for sure. But is it because we are stronger? Or just have more faith in our arms? 🤨🤔💭🧐
Food for thought.

Oh btw, I have a FREE ARM BALANCE ⚖️ playbook online if you fancy the challenge. Different styles and variations that also features . So you ladies won’t feel like it’s just some man patronising you the whole time 😳😅👍🏽🫶🏽

Three things a serious YOGA student should never get tired of.
👇🏽
1️⃣: questioning conventional wisdom .
Over the years Yogis old and new have lived like sheep 🐑, just following the crowd and the “traditions”. Whilst following the crowd gives you safety, it usually comes at the cost of your soul. I used to think contortionism was the problem in the yoga world when it’s actually conformism 😲.
2️⃣: studying for clarity, not knowledge 🤔.
Borrowed knowledge is just information, and information doesn’t change you. You stay exactly the same, only with a bigger vocabulary. The Buddha is the best example of seeking clarity. Buddha was not full of wisdom so much as empty of man-made philosophy.
3️⃣: returning to the basic poses , over and over again.
The basic poses aren’t really about the body anyway, they’re about the capacity to be as you are, rather than who you think you should be 😵💫. People leave the basics behind because they think there’s nothing left to achieve. But if you feel you’ve outgrown the basics, maybe it’s your ego that’s outgrown you 🧠.
