What a busy time for Addlestone Canoe Club! πŸš£β€β™‚οΈβ˜€οΈ

On Saturday we hosted a fun regatta for our racers, with our friends from Wey Kayak Club joining us on the water. The day featured a mixture of sprint races and fun events, with plenty of laughs along the way. The adults even demonstrated the legendary chariot race to the juniors!

On Sunday, a small but determined ACC team headed to the Richmond Hasler Marathon. Racing in the heat was no easy task, so well done to everyone who took part and represented the club brilliantly.

There was more good news from the whitewater side of the club, with several junior and adult paddlers achieving important milestones at Lee Valley White Water Centre. Congratulations to Ethan, Daniel and Cat, who all passed their Legacy assessments. Also a huge well done to William and Gavin, who successfully passed their Olympic assessments, a fantastic achievement for both paddlers.

Well done to everyone involved. Another great weekend of paddling, racing and progression across the club! πŸ‘πŸš£

A huge congratulations to Jack, who recently competed at the 2026 Paddle Europe Freestyle Championships as part of the Great Britain team! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸŒŠ

The Junior Men’s competition produced some of the highest standards seen in recent years, with an incredibly strong field and athletes regularly scoring over 1,000 points across their best rides.

We’re especially proud that Jack secured his place in the semi-finals, competing against some of Europe’s very best junior freestyle paddlers. To represent Great Britain on the international stage is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication he puts into his paddling.

Well done Jack, everyone at Addlestone Canoe Club is incredibly proud of you! πŸ‘πŸš£β€β™‚οΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

β˜€οΈ What a busy week we had at Addlestone Canoe Club, in the glorious British sunshine! πŸ›ΆπŸŒŠ

Saturday saw some of our racers team up with Wey Kayak Club for a fantastic long paddle from Wey Kayak Club to Addlestone Canoe Club. A special shout out to our youngest club member, who paddled the entire distance with a smile on their face from start to finish, an amazing achievement! πŸ‘πŸš£

A couple of our racers also took on the Reading Circuit Hasler Race. Racing in extremely hot conditions was no easy task, but they both dug deep, represented the club brilliantly and completed their races successfully. πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

Meanwhile, some of our members were enjoying the whitewater at the National White Water Centre in North Wales, making the most of the fantastic conditions and getting plenty of sunshine laps on the water. πŸŒŠπŸ”οΈ

On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome our local MP, Dr Ben Spencer, to Addlestone Canoe Club for our Big Paddle Clean Up. Together, we collected litter from the river and removed large amounts of Pennywort, an invasive non-native plant that is choking our waterways.

A huge thank you to all the members and parents who joined us for the afternoon. After all the hard work, our younger paddlers enjoyed cooling off in the river, having fun in the sunshine and finishing the day with a well-earned ice pop! 🍦😎

The first National Sprint Regatta of the year is complete for Addlestone Canoe Club πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ

The April regatta was in its true glory, with every type of weather possible on display, a real test for paddlers and volunteers alike! πŸŒ¦οΈπŸ’¨πŸŒŠ

We may have had more volunteers than racers this time around, but William & Michael absolutely did us proud with a fantastic performance on the water πŸ‘ Their effort, determination and results are promising for the season ahead.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support, help and represent the club, regattas like these don’t happen without you.

A particular mention and well done to Andy and all the other volunteers on the boats who braved every weather condition to ensure the regatta ran safely, your efforts are hugely appreciated πŸ‘

The hours spent volunteering both before, during and after the event by some of our club members do not go unnoticed. Thank you Wendy, Lisa, Chris & Philip (& Andy) for your incredible commitment.

We’re excited to see more of our paddlers follow in William & Michael’s footsteps at the upcoming regattas. Bring it on! πŸ’ͺ
