A big day of sport at the cricket club today.

Today our third team host Cherry Tree Cricket Club, hoping to make it 4 senior wins from 4 this weekend.

Before the big one tonight / tomorrow, for England’s last 16 game against Mexico.

The bar will be open all day, and kitchen will be open too for the thirds game.

World Cup: England v Mexico

Following the PM's decision yesterday to allow pubs to extend their licensing hours, we will be showing the last 16 clash against Mexico!

The clubhouse will be open all afternoon on Sunday for our third team fixture against Cherry Tree, and we will remain open for the late/early kick off against Mexico.

Our usual World Cup offer will be in place again, starting from 10pm where all pints are £4.

As the game is in the early hours, and having a great relationship with our neighbours that we want to keep ongoing, we will only allow customers to be outside of the clubhouse for cigarette breaks only, and we ask for all customers to enter and leave the premises as quietly as possible.

England are back in action, and it's the knockouts!

The clubhouse will be open from 3pm today, and our £4 a pint beer offer will be on from the start until close.

A big night for our club’s progression last night which saw the launch of Baxenden Under 9's B team.

This team is a massive credit to the club gaining so many juniors at training to allow us to run two # U9's teams.

They played their first match at home to Lowerhouse U9's 3rd team.

Following the toss Baxenden were placed into bat. The first pair of Elliot and Elsie started well but were unlucky with being bowled a couple of times.

The second pair of Isabella and Heidi brought us back into the positive with a couple of smashing shots for 4, Lowerhouse took 2 good catches as well during this pair.

Third pair for Baxenden were Theia and Mia who kept the scores ticking over with some graceful shots. Final pair saw a debut match for both Harry and Leo, Leo smashed a brilliant 4 off his legs. All this joint effort gave Baxenden a very respectable 214 at the end of their innings.

Lowerhouse came out and were kept to low figures with some good bowling from Baxenden who were straight and steady with wickets scattered around a few of the bowlers, unfortunately the final pair for Lowerhouse scored heavy and they finished with 283.

This was an absolutely fantastic effort from the newly formed B team under coach Oliver Burton supported by Brad.

There are plenty more matches to come for this team and we can only see them developing.

We have four senior games this weekend for you, only one at home.

On Friday night our third team travel to Cherry Tree Cricket Club in our first third team T20 fixture of the campaign.

And on Saturday both our first team and second team are away in the league, our first team away at Walkden Cricket Club, and our second team away at Blackrod Cricket Club.

And our weekend action ends on Sunday, with our third team hosting Cherry Tree Cricket Club in the league at the Rossendale Motors Arena at Back Lane.

World cup knockouts!

England take on DR Congo on Wednesday night in the last 32 of the world cup.

The game starts at 5pm, and the clubhouse will be open from 3pm, with the £4 for all pint offer starting from then till close.

It was great to see so many of you up on Saturday night, and be good to see you all up there again on Wednesday for the big game.
