We held our presentation night at the Old England on Friday night and I just want to thank the patrons Simmy and Jaqui for hosting. Not only that they supplied pizzas for everyone and also ran a football card which raised a massive 250 pounds for the club.
We had a good turnout from the boxers and parents alike which contributed to a great night.
The main prize winners were

Best newcomer - Max Barrow, a big future for this boy

Most improved boxer - Will Sumner

Boxer's boxer - Nevaeh Lynass

The Kevin Crawford memorial trophy also went to Nevaeh Lynass

well done to all. We will still be training throughout the close season but our next competitive bout will be in September at the Barum box cup. Our next show will be held at the Mercer Hall in Gt Harwood. on October 3rd.

After a week of trepidation, not knowing whether we could enough bouts to hold a show because of pull outs, I needn't have worried.
The boxing community rallied round and saved the day. Thank you to all the clubs that turned up in particular the ones who stepped in at the last minute.
We ended up with 4 skills and 8 bouts 5 representing Clayton.
11 yearold James Downie had his 1st bout in what was, a baptism of fire V Donnie McKenzie Furness Catholic abc. This was a hard fought bout The Furness boy was on the front foot and made James work hard throughout. A very entertaining bout which saw James losing unanimously in a keenly fought contest
George Kissock was up next and again was involved in a tight contest v Richard Ireland with George having the upper hand in the exchanges, Countering with classy combos.. The bout became untidy, as the Blackrod used a hit and hold tactic. George won on a split.
Next up was Will Sumner v Ubayan Alishan Rourkeys ABC
Again this was a close, hard fought match Alashan was on the front foot and busy, although Will showed flashes of classy boxing on the back foot, he didn;t really deal with the pressure, A good bout. Lost unanimous.
Harry Rawcliffe up next V Elliot Murray of Carlisle This was fought at long range as both lads are tall and the bout ebbed and flowed either way for a while. However Harry began to get the upper hand and scored well with his 3 shot counters, Good win on a split against a very experienced boxer.
Last but not least was Asad Begi, he is always in a competitive bout with his front foot style working behind the jab whilst unleashing some effective power shots. Tom Schaltegger Apollos abc played hid part in another entertaining bout and although Tom got the split decision it was the only bout where the judges got it wrong. Not for the first time has this happened to Asad.
I would also like to thank Debbie and Sheryl for looking after the door and Tomo for the music..
A massive thanks to our coaches and supporters who do a great job week in and week out.

Thank also to the Mill Hill club for hosting us. Ian and his team made us very welcome.
We have one more bout until the end of our season. Good luck to Nevaeh who boxes in the Manchester box cup at the weekend.
