At the moment all tennis classes will go ahead today…..I’m at the club and it’s not too bad just now. That could change tho! Unless you hear from me tennis will be on🎾🎾

Our annual end of season party will be on Friday 25th September at 7pm at the Aberdeen Squash and Racketball club in Mannofield(same as last year).

Invites will be sent out through clubspark soon.

GOLF ALERT🏌️‍♂️

Judy, Andy and Jamie are playing in the Pro-Am golf event at Trumps today. They are teeing off at 11am and have Patrick Reed in their team. Tickets are £12 for anyone keen to pop along🙂

What an incredible experience for Azael at the All-England Tennis Club😁🏆🎾🌱

Congratulations on a fantastic run in the Play Your Way to Wimbledon event. Azael came top of his group in the first round and then took down the 3rd seed on his way to the knockout stage. He narrowly lost in a match tie-break in the knockout round to an opponent who went on to reach the final an outstanding achievement!

What a brilliant experience, a fantastic achievement, and memories that will last a lifetime. Well done Azael😁

The Tuesday morning 7am performance class got underway today and we had blue skies by the end😎

75 minutes of JUST tennis, exactly what kids of that age should be doing😁🎾

Finals Day is 2 weeks on Saturday(5th September)🏆😁🎾

If everyone could make sure they are getting their matches played! A few of the junior draws have fallen a bit behind, we’ll start scrapping any matches holding up the draws at the end of this week🙂

NICOL DAZZLES ON RETURN TO ACTION!

Last night saw a dream return to competitive action for our 2013 champion and loyal coach, Darren Eric Nicol.

Nicol, as previously stated was returning to the professional game after a 9 year hiatus. Most onlookers, including league veteran Shona Gatt, felt certain we had seen the last of Nicol.

Therefore, there were shockwaves around the international community, when this illustrious champion announced his comeback on Monday.

The comeback wasn’t all smooth sailing however as Darren started nervously in the doubles rubber with rising star partner Ricky Towler. They were quickly dismissed in the opening set 6-2 by former Rubislaw player Simon Werninck and youngster Euan Corse. Nicol, however is famed for his resilience and ability to turn matches around. It is clear that he still possesses this rare commodity as the hosts reversed the score in the second set, clinching it 6 games to 2. A match tiebreak determined the outcome of the clash. Roared on by a partisan home crowd, led by Vice Chair Allan Durham, the Rubislaw pairing eased through 10-3, sparking scenes of jubilation.

Debbie Towler(mother of Ricky) was visibly emotional and cooed to the onlooking journalists, “I’ve never been so proud of Ricky-he really pulled old Darren through! The atmosphere was electric and this will be a pivotal moment in Ricky’s fledgling career!”

Next up, was the singles bout where Darren took on Simon. Nicol raced out of the blocks claiming the opening set 4-0. “It was like he’d never been away”, gushed club icon Dagmar Grant from Germany.

Some fatigue understandably kicked jn, in the second set as Werninck hit back, edging it 4-3. Local doom monger Martin Harbord uttered “The writing is on the wall for DE-he has nothing left!”

In the final deciding match tiebreak, Nicol drew on all of his resolve, provoking scenes of unrivalled ecstasy, as he triumphed 10-6.

Alex Grant, who was accompanying his legendary mother at this iconic moment, was overcome with emotion and lost for words when asked to comment.

Darren himself was overjoyed by the result of this historic night, stating “To be honest this result was beyond my wildest dreams. Just to be back on court was a victory! It was a delight to see that I still have such a following-most stars don’t retain such a fan base after such a long time away but it’s clear I still have the star power, most can only dream of!”

Nicol was coy on his plans for the 2027 season but based on events of last night, the Rubislaw crowds have not seen the last of him!
