New Life at Bodiechell!
2025 lambing has started with our first time mum Ginger giving us a ewe lamb! It was all a bit stressful for her and the little lamb needed warming a few times. But we got there in the end and they are now settled nicely in the big shed until the little lamb gets stronger.
January saw us welcome baby goat Apple from doting mum Elma! Apple is the first goat kid we have welcomed and I was just bursting with pride on how strong and resilient she was and what a fantastic job Elma did! Bingo, another of our pedigree Pygmy goat herd is due imminently. A first time kidder so we are keeping everything crossed things go well for her 🤞

These little ladies have spent the day indoors keeping themselves dry and warm, making nests in the straw all over the big shed floor.
A trip outside was short lived when the snow didn’t smell quite right and was too cold for little hooves. Perhaps tomorrow will be better for some outdoor browsing but today, they have decided to stay put. 💕

Betty and Elma 🥰
Completing our 2024 herd of Pygmy goats. 🐐🐐
Betty and Elma have been running with the Billy for a wee while so we think should be expecting the clippity clop of little baby goat hooves in the next few months. 🥰

When life gives you radishes feed em to the piggy’s!
The kids planted PLENTY of radish seeds a few weeks ago and now we have lots of them. Swipe to see how happy this makes Tilly! 😆

A little chick update for you!
Bing our little silky was too sleepy for a photo but you can see her lovely feathers coming in - looks like she’ll be a nice grey colour.
Fluff fluff on the other hand is full of life at all times! And just to match the personality going by the crazy feathers it looks like she might just be a Frizzle! Perfectly named if that’s the case ❤️😍

We just got home with a tiny little Silky chick to keep Fluff Fluff company 😍 Pics to follow once she (🤞🏼) has cosied up after the journey. 🐥 🐥

Egg update:
Both have now pipped! One nice and close to the air cell line I traced on just before egg lockdown so all is well there. The other has pipped quite far from this but seems to have broken the membrane so should be getting air...
It’s so nerve-racking and we are finding ourselves constantly staring in looking for something to have happened!
Fingers crossed for some nice fluffy chicks in the morning. 🐥🐥

We have piping 🥰🥰 And Keith has been a bit of a genius and set up a time lapse so we can see the hatching in quick time 😁
Excitinggggggg!!
