Introducing the 2026–2027 North Bay Men’s Rugby Coaching Staff.

North Bay Rugby has always been built by those willing to give back to the program, and this season, our men will once again be led by three individuals who have helped shape this club for decades.

Head Coach Jojo Benzon is a founding member of North Bay Rugby, dating back to our beginning in 1997. From player to coach, Jojo has dedicated nearly three decades to the Bay and continues to lead the program he helped build.

Alongside him is Chris Powell, a former North Bay player and an expert in the technical side of the forwards, specializing in scrum and lineout play. Together, Jojo and Chris have helped lead North Bay through one of the most successful stretches in club history — four divisional championships, two conference championships, and two National Championship appearances in recent years.

Joining the staff is Brian Hickey, another former North Bay player whose impact on our club reaches across generations. In 2001, Brian founded and coached the North Bay Youth & High School Rugby Program, introducing and developing many players who remain active with North Bay today. Up until last season, he was still pulling on the boots and competing with our D4 side.

Brian brings decades of rugby knowledge, coaching experience, and an understanding of what it means to wear the North Bay shield. He will play an important role in continuing to elevate a D4 side that has won its division three consecutive seasons.

Three former North Bay players. Three North Bay Hall of Famers. Three men who have spent decades giving back to the club and the game.

Championships and results tell part of the story, but their commitment to developing players, passing down knowledge, and strengthening North Bay Rugby means far more.

We are incredibly grateful to have these men leading our program and thankful for the time, energy, and commitment they continue to give to North Bay and to the game as a whole.

The standard has been set. The work continues.

North Bay Weekend Recap

Highlighting three of our athletes who put in overtime hours this summer.

Quinn Western, by way of NOVA Rugby finished as a National Runner-Up at the USA Club Rugby 7s National Championship Tournament. NOVA fought hard to retain its title after winning it all last year but fell just short this time around. Major props to NOVA 7s as they continue to prove that the DMV produces top talent in U.S. rugby. Cheers to the boys!

Mitch Vannoy, by way of Schuylkill River, finished 8th in the nation at the USA Club Rugby 7s National Championship Tournament. You can’t help but love this program. Built for contact, speed, and creativity, they find ways to score while smashing the opposition with physicality. Cheers to the boys!

Cam Crosler (NB Captain), by way of Alexandria Selects, competed across the pond, facing Alexandria, VA’s sister city in Dundee, Scotland. The men’s selects side finished 1-1 on the weekend and had the opportunity to explore everything beautiful Scotland has to offer.

Rugby provides: experience, opportunity, friendships.

Shoutout to our guys for making the time to compete and stay active over the summer. Shoutout to the clubs and programs that provided these opportunities.

We have one more summer session tomorrow (Wednesday) before we start training next week for the Fall Campaign.

Sat, Aug 22 or Sat, Aug 29 - Combined D2/D4 scrimmage @ Washington Irish (confirming the date

Tues, Aug 25 and Thurs, Aug 27 - Practice at DeMarco, 6:30 - 8:30pm

Tuesday, Sept 1 - Practice at AHS, 6:30-8:00pm (Tentative start date based on availability. We will remain at AHS for the rest of the season).
