What an incredible way to finish our Mindsparx Medics Summer Camp! 🚑

Day 4 was packed with hands-on learning, teamwork and plenty of surprises! 🙌

Our Mindsparx Medics learnt:
🫁 How to help someone who is choking
💛 The recovery position
🩹 How to apply bandages
🪵 How to build a makeshift stretcher using dowels and clothing
🚶‍♀️ How to safely transport a casualty – even whilst blindfolded! 👀
📻 How to use radios and effective communication
🚪 How to work safely in confined space scenarios

The grand finale put everything they had learnt over the last four days to the test! 🚨

Chloe became our casualty with "broken bones", bruises and plenty of bloody cuts (no one was harmed in this scenario!) and our Mindsparx Medics had absolutely no idea what they were walking into! They stayed calm, communicated brilliantly, worked together and put their first aid skills into action like true professionals. 👏

To round off an amazing week, everyone was proudly awarded their Leadership Badge - a well deserved recognition of the confidence, teamwork and responsibility they showed throughout the camp.

We couldn't be prouder of every single one of our Mindsparx Medics. Thank you all for making this week so much fun, and a huge thank you to our helpers and everyone who supported the camp. ❤️

What another fantastic day of learning and teamwork! 💙

Today our young medics got hands-on with:
🦴 Fractures
🛏️ Spinal injuries
🩸 Bleeds and catastrophic bleeds
🎭 Realistic first aid scenarios
🤝 The importance of teamwork in emergency situations

There were plenty of laughs too, especially when our acting casualty Gabby couldn't stop giggling because she was so ticklish during the scenarios! Thanks for being such a great sport!

To round off the day, all of our amazing Mindsparx Medics were proudly awarded their Prioritizing Badge for showing great decision-making and learning how to assess what needs to happen first in an emergency.

A huge well done to every single one of you. Your confidence, teamwork and enthusiasm have been incredible to watch. We can't wait for another exciting day tomorrow! 👏🚑

🚑🩺 Mindsparx Medics Camp – Day 2! 🫁❤️

Another fantastic day packed with hands-on learning, teamwork and real-life first aid skills! 🙌

Today's young medics covered:
❤️ Taking a pulse and calculating how many times our hearts beat in a single day.
🫁 Discovering just how big our lungs really if they are rolled out.
🚑 Tour of the Events First Aid Services (Scotland) ambulance and exploring the equipment carried on board.
🩻 Learning how to safely use a scoop stretcher for transportation to the ambulance trolley/cot.
🛏️ Practising moving a casualty onto a bed before transferring them into an ambulance.
🩺 Using a stethoscope to listen to heartbeats.
🥶 Learning how and when to use an emergency survival tent to help protect a casualty from the elements.

To finish another brilliant day, everyone was proudly awarded their Responsibility Badge for demonstrating excellent teamwork, care and responsibility throughout the camp.

We can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store! 🙌

Our young medics have been busy learning life-saving skills today! 💜

🦺 Identifying and checking for danger before helping a casualty
🎭 Working through realistic first aid scenarios
⚡ Learning how and when to use a defibrillator (AED)
🫁 Exploring the science behind oxygen and why it's so important for casualties
🎒 Getting hands-on with real first aid bags and discovering what all the equipment is used for

To finish the day, they proudly earned their Decision Making badge for showing fantastic judgement, teamwork and confidence throughout today's activities. 👏

We can't wait to see what exciting challenges tomorrow brings! 🤩
