Aberdeen Wanderers hosted Sunday Morning Rugby - STL from St Louis Missouri USA on Wednesday night at Groats Road.
Fresh from playing Strathmore on Saturday, the touring side travelled to Aberdeen for their next game and the famous Wanderers hospitality.
Strathmore loaned some players to them and some of their supporters travelled up from Forfar too.
The teams were piped on by our own piper, Fraser Smith, followed by our Wanderers mascots.
The game was competive and reasonably close in the first half. The tourists kept going but Wanderers managed to close out the game in the second half. The score didn’t matter as it was a great encounter and brilliant to host visitors.
Shirts were exchanged with the Wanderers captain Greig Gauntlett. Shields were exchanged with our Vice President James Smith. We also gave them a nice bottle of single malt to remember us by.
After that the players were fed and enjoyed the bar.
A truely enjoyable summers evening at Wanderers involving the whole club from age 5 to 75! The Sunday Morning Rugby team were very appreciative of both Wanderers and Strathmore’s hospitality in their two matches and we were delighted to host such a fantastic team!
A big thanks to:
- Our piper, Fraser

Aberdeen Wanderers are delighted to announce our new Captain for the 2026-27 season as Greig Gauntlett. Greig was one of the vice captains last season and is making the step up after being selected by the coaching team.
When interviewed Greig said
“I’m honoured to be taking on the role of Captain at Aberdeen Wanderers RFC for the season ahead. I am looking forward to leading this group through the newly structured 26/27 season.
Firstly, I’d like to thank Stuart Robson for his leadership, commitment and hard work last season as captain. He has set a great example for the club both on and off the pitch.
We’ve got an exciting season ahead and our goal is clear – league promotion and keep pushing standards higher.
Success starts now, I’d encourage everyone to come along to training, work hard for each other and be ready to give everything.”
Pre season has just started so it’s not too late to come and join Greig and the team.
