Seafield Bowling Club

Today the final of our ladies championship took place with Myra Middleton playing Elaine Elder.

Neither player had won the championship so whatever the outcome a new name would be on the trophy.

Myra started the game strongly until Elaine tried to start a comeback but it wasn’t enough with Myra winning 21-9.

Well done to both players on reaching the final and Congratulations to Myra for going that one step further and winning the title, commiserations to Elaine.

Thankyou to all who came down to watch a good display of bowling.

Tonight saw the finals of the Bon Accord Bowling Association league knockouts competition held at Abergeldie Bowling Club.

We faced Whitehall Bowling Club in the final after 3 tight matches in the preceding rounds of the competition.

We got off to a slow start and halfway through the game it was looking unlikely that we could come back. But in all of 3 ends we were right back in it with Mark getting counts of 5 and 4, Ross managing to close the gap with 2’s and 1’s.
Going into the last end with mark leading 17-13 and Ross trailing 12-10. Mark with his last bowl managed to get the shot winning 18-13 and Ross lying one didn’t have to play his last bowl.

Final scores were

Ian, Robert and Mark 18 - 13 Whitehall
Cowie’s 12 - 13 Whitehall

Well done to all involved and a massive achievement for the club with this being the first time we have won the knockout competition and also halting a very strong Whitehall side from completing the league and knockout double.

Thankyou to everyone who came along to support it was great to see so many Seafield members there tonight.

And well done to the lads for what was a very good game.

Tonight is the final of the Bon Accord Bowling Association triples KO stages where we play Whitehall Bowling Club.
the venue is Abergeldie Bowling Club with the match starting at 18:00.
The teams are

Lead - Ian Thomson Lead - Neil Cowie
Second - Robert King Second - Alan Cowie
Skip - Mark Wheeler Skip - Ross Cowie

After such a great achievement getting to the final after a strong league campaign from our triples team it would be nice to go one step further and take home the title.

Make sure to come and support tonight for what will be a good game of bowls.

Sadly it wasn’t to be for Ian Thomson tonight in the Semi finals of the bon accord singles as he was beaten by Polmuir Bowling Clubs Callum Work.

Well done to Ian on getting to the Semi Finals a stage where there hasn’t been a Seafield player for a while he’s done the club proud and good luck to Callum in tomorrows final.

Also thankyou to Westhill Bowling Club for hosting.

Tomorrow he plays Polmuir’s Callum Work in the semi final start time 6.15pm at Westhill.

Yesterday our gents played in the final day of the dunnottar castle cup.

In the semi final we faced parkview BC.
After a close match but a victory on all three rinks Seafield were in the final.

We faced Balgownie Bowling Club in the final and after a close start we ended very strongly winning by 22 shots with two rinks winning and 1 rink losing by 1.

So it’s back to back victories in the dunnottar cup for us!

Well done to all the players involved in the competition and thankyou to Stonehaven Bowling Club for their hospitality and hosting the competition.

Roll on next year to see if we can complete the triple!

Today our Over 55’s 4’s team started their campaign at the national championships down in Ayr where they played district 22’s Carmyle in the first round

After a close game the whole way through it wasn’t to be as our guys lost out 18-13.

Well done to Dave, Ian, Brian and Gordon for getting that far you did the club proud!

Today our final of the Gents Championship between Roger Evans and Ian Leslie takes place at 1.30pm.

Come down and watch for what I’m sure will be a good contest.
