📢 OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Postponement of Mauritius 7s the Africa Men’s Sevens Series 2026

The Mauritius Rugby Federation regrets to announce the postponement of the Official Africa Men’s Sevens Series 2026, originally scheduled for 20–21 June at the SPARC complex in Cascavelle.

Following recent public health guidance regarding the evolving Ebola outbreak in parts of Africa, this decision has been taken under circumstances of force majeure to prioritise the safety of players, officials, and the Mauritian community.

⚠️ Important Highlights:
Postponement, Not Cancellation: We are actively working with Rugby Africa, World Rugby, and the Mauritius Government to evaluate alternative dates.

Purely Precautionary: There are NO reported cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) among any participating teams, tournament staff, or within Mauritius.

We share in the deep disappointment this causes for our fans, sponsors, and athletes, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your immense understanding and unwavering support.

Further updates regarding logistics and the revised competition schedule will be communicated in due course. 🇲🇺🏉

Senegal Replaces Uganda at Mauritius 7s 2026

Due to travel restrictions currently in place, Uganda will no longer be able to participate in the Mauritius 7s, the Official Africa Men’s Sevens 2026.

As a result, Senegal will replace Uganda in the tournament.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Uganda Rugby Union, its players, staff and supporters for their understanding and cooperation, and we look forward to welcoming them at a future edition of the tournament.

A valuable weekend of rugby for Team Mauritius at the as part of our preparation for the .

Finishing 11th out of 16 teams, competing against some of the best French Elite 7s clubs and international representative teams, provided exactly the level of challenge we needed at this stage of our preparation.

The tournament featured high-quality opposition including Sri Lanka National Team , Central Asia Champions 2026, French Champion 2025 .

Beyond the results, the objective was to test combinations, build cohesion, and identify the small details that will make the difference in two weeks’ time.

The lessons have been learned.
The work continues.
With the 2026 World Champions, the Blitzboks, arriving in Mauritius in less than two weeks, our focus is now fully on delivering our best performance on home soil.
