"... there is a man named Ueshiba who is practicing some extremely dangerous methods of gyaku-reversal/locking techniques.
There are people in the Navy, such as Admiral Takesh*ta, who are learning from him, and there are many others who are studying his methods as well.
Its principal aim is to defeat the opponent with a single blow."

“I can’t show false techniques to the Emperor. Basically in aikido, the opponent is killed with a single blow. It’s false if the attacker is thrown, leisurely stands up, and attacks again. [On the other hand], I can’t go around killing my students.”
Ueshiba Morihei

Another very interesting article by Christopher Li on Aikido Sangenkai 🙇♂️
Some fascinating facts about Tomiki Kenji, one of Ueshiba Morihei’s greatest students 😱
And a dive into historical material showing that Ueshiba Morihei’s art was already being criticized as overly dangerous in 1930 👊
Today many schools have abandoned the martial aspect. And it is perfectly legitimate ☺️
We should respect everyone’s choices in practice 🤝
And we should never:
Cherry-pick history to legitimize ourselves 🧐
Criticize those who don’t share our inclinations 🙄
Pretend to have a moral authority 😇
Even while O-Sensei was alive, independent groups existed, and he kept relationship with the students who founded them 🤝
Aikido doesn’t belong to any group 🤷♂️
It should function as a family, where you spend time with the members you have affinities with 😍, meet with the rest in some important events, and always be respectful of everyone 🙏
That being said, if you don't punch you uke in the face from time to time, you're a sissy 😁
