“You have to believe in something that isn’t tangible.”

This started as a conversation about music. It became one about doubt.

Grace Kim (Grace Kim 그레이스 김) grew up training classically on piano, and somewhere along the way found her way into a scene - electro house - that wasn’t exactly waiting for her. “There are a huge number of men, whether in production or as a DJ,” she told us. Making space for herself wasn’t a side note to her career. It was the career.

That same independence shows up outside of music, too. Traveling solo as a woman, she says, means real freedom - the freedom to choose, and to be fully immersed in a new place and culture in a way you just can’t be in a group.

But the line that stayed with us longest wasn’t about the crowd, or the wins, or the travel. It was this: everyone told her no. Don’t mix. Don’t produce. Don’t do any of it.

She did it anyway - because some things you can’t explain, you just have to trust.
