after saying, “the last time they put three 20-point scorers on a team, they said it was unfair, which was the [warriors] team i was on. they have got four 25-point scorers on this team. so, hell yeah, i think they’re going to be a contender,” fans came at him for comparing lebron’s new sixers to those warriors teams.
KD’s basic response: if philly is a contender, what was he supposed to say?

kevin durant’s comments about lebron joining the 76ers quickly turned into another debate about his move to the warriors.

KD’s original point was that philly has four players capable of averaging 25 points and should clearly be viewed as a contender. fans pushed back on the comparison, arguing that lebron joining this team at 41 isn’t the same as durant joining a 73-win team in his prime.

durant responded by saying he never claimed the situations were identical — he was only comparing the amount of talent on each roster.

an anonymous NBA scout didn’t hold back, saying westbrook “isn’t someone you build a winning team around” despite still being capable of putting up numbers and winning games.

it’s the latest example of why westbrook remains one of the NBA’s most polarizing players. some see a former MVP who still brings energy and production. others see a player whose strengths no longer outweigh his limitations.

is it time stephen curry asks for a trade? the warriors remain the only team without a new addition via trade or free agency. golden state entered the offseason knowing it could be one of its final chances to build a real contender around steph curry. they spent weeks pursuing lebron james, missed out, and have now brought back draymond green on essentially the same one-year deal he declined. steph is 38, jimmy butler is recovering from a major knee injury and the roster still needs more scoring, athleticism and dependable depth.

golden state appears more focused on preserving cap flexibility for 2027 than maximizing the roster around curry right now. unless the warriors make a meaningful move, they are effectively asking an aging core to compete with a roster that already fell short and has only gotten older. at some point, curry has to decide whether finishing his career in golden state matters more than getting one final real shot at a championship.

in philly, lebron would be playing alongside 2023 mvp joel embiid, 2024 finals mvp jaylen brown, 2026 all-star and all-nba third team selection tyrese maxey, and vj edgecombe, who made all-rookie first team this year & just finished third in rookie of the year voting. compared to miami’s wade and bosh, cleveland’s kyrie and love, or the 2020 lakers with AD, this might be the deepest collection of high-end talent lebron has ever had.
