➡️ Chilli veinal mottle virus, an emerging virus that causes significant yield losses to pepper (Capsicum sp.).
❓Symptoms include dark-green mottles, mosaics, vein banding on leaves and leaf distortion.

❓The WPPR covers all aspects of EPPO’s work to support Member Countries’ activities in preventing the introduction and spread of plant pests, including quarantine pests, regulated non-quarantine pests, invasive alien species and any such organisms presenting a potential phytosanitary risk for the EPPO region.

📅 This week an Expert Working Group is meeting in the EPPO Headquarters in Paris to carry out a pest risk analysis (PRA) for the EPPO region for Austropuccinia psidii (myrtle rust).
❓️ The EWG has been assesing the potential pathways for the entry of A. psidii into the EPPO region, potential for establishment and spread within the EPPO region, and the impact in its area of current distribution and potential impact in the EPPO region.

3️⃣ Day 3 of the Working Party on Phytosanitary Regulations!
After a morning reviewing EPPO activities on information and communication, the working party was invited to attend the world food safety day 2026 at Ilia garden in Tbilisi.
In the afternoon, the working party visited the collection of rare grapevine varieties at the LEPL Scientific Research Centre of Agriculture, along with its Wine Museum. 🍇🍷
EPPO is sincerely grateful for the warm hospitality of our Georgian hosts. 🇬🇪
