And just like that… 13 days at sea, and Alice has arrived in New York. 🗽🌊
From endless Atlantic horizons and stormy nights to dolphins, sunsets, freeze-dry, drone missions, unexpected repairs and a lot of time getting to know the sailors onboard, Alice’s first transatlantic has come to an end.
And what better way to finish her diary than sailing under the Verrazzano Bridge, past the Statue of Liberty and into New York. 🇺🇸
“Thirteen days ago I left Lorient having never crossed an ocean before. Tonight I arrived in New York by sailing underneath the Verrazzano Bridge, past the Statue of Liberty and into one of the biggest cities in the world.”

What a journey. What a story. ❤️

And yes… we’re already looking forward to seeing all of this adventure come to life in Alice’s vlog. 🎥

Ahead of The Ocean Race Atlantic, we’re getting ready for our first race aboard Malizia 4. 🌊
A 3,200 nautical mile sprint from New York to Lorient, with a crew bringing together different backgrounds, experiences and strengths.
For us, building a strong crew is about much more than gender or experience. It’s about understanding each other, trusting each other and knowing how to bring together different skills and perspectives when it matters most.

Together with our partner EFG International, we’ve created this video to take a closer look at what makes this crew tick, and what it takes to become a team on the water.
We can’t wait to put it all into practice. 💪

Boris Herrmann, Justine Mettraux, Cole Brauer, Julien Villion and Gauthier Lebec.

Let’s go. 🇺🇸➡️🇫🇷

Maybe our last day at sea… maybe not. 👀🌊
Alice thought Day 12 might be her final diary from onboard Malizia 4. Then the ETA moved again. 😂
Between rain squalls, 30+ knots of wind, mysterious fins, a tiny bird taking refuge onboard and a deep dive into the science happening beneath the deck, there was plenty to keep her busy.
And somehow, after 12 days at sea, she still finds time to wonder at it all.

📝 From Alice’s Diary from onboard: « Today we learnt something pretty special about who inspired him to sail when he was young.
At eight years old, Will remembers reading Ellen MacArthur’s books after moving back from America. He shows us a photo of himself going to meet her at the end of one of her races around the world.
He says she inspired him.
Cole and I both stop for a second.
There’s something really moving about hearing that a young boy looked at a female sailor and thought, I want to do that too. You don’t hear stories like that very often and we both absolutely loved it. »

Today, he’s the one crossing oceans and inspiring the next generation of sailors.
And there’s something pretty special about hearing that a young boy saw a female sailor doing something extraordinary and thought: I want to do that too.
Now, years later, Will is leading a team across the Atlantic and preparing to race around the world himself.
Sometimes, it only takes one person to make you believe you can do it too. ❤️

Today’s diary is all about the people behind Malizia 4, and the personalities that make this delivery so special.

Julien the navigator. Justine always looking for that extra half knot. Loïs living for every moment at sea. Cole bringing the energy. And Will, the calm leader keeping everyone moving forward.
There’s also a pretty special story about what inspired Will to become a sailor at just eight years old. ❤️

And in between all that, Alice gets to fly the drone, see Malizia 4 from above and witness just how much this boat still wants to run.
“She sits proud, waiting to be unleashed.”

Day 10 at sea… and today was supposed to be New York day... 🥲🌊
Instead, the wind had other plans. With another 2–3 days added to the ETA, Alice starts the day dreaming about clean clothes, fresh coffee, pastries and a proper shower.
But somehow, things turn around.
A little boat cleaning, a salt-water shower, some sunshine, music, a few gybes… and a pretty special mission: the crew deploys a scientific drifter buoy that will spend the next 3–4 years collecting data from the ocean. 🌊🔬

"Lois has another shower, he is definitely the shower king at this point: 'Super nice sailing… This day is like a gift.'
He resets my mindset instantly. Just what I needed."
