We were asked last night how we met. 🥰
I LOVE sharing our story and watching the astonished look on people’s faces as I reveal each moment leading up to that day… and, of course, what actually happened when we met.
I am not quite sure which bit blew their minds the most…
The fact that I printed a picture from Google the night before of a man who looked remarkably like him?
That I had already written down the date and how we would meet?
That 98% of my ridiculously detailed ‘Mr Right’ list came true?
That we met during Covid?
Or that, long before he appeared, I had started redesigning my life to be ready for the life and relationship I actually wanted? 😉
Every time I tell the story, it adds a little more fuel to my fire to finish The Perfect Fit.
Because underneath the slightly bonkers coincidences is something
I really want to share: I did not just go looking for Mr Right. I had to work out what right for me actually meant.
And I know that part of my journey can help other women on their own journey to finding their Perfect Fit. ❤️

"Feeling lost is not failure. It is often the first sign that you are ready for a different chapter."
This week in Jane's Journal...
Midlife isn't always about changing everything. Sometimes it's about recognising the areas of life that need a little more attention.
For me, that was my health, my fitness and the direction I wanted to take my work.
Giving myself space to slow down helped me see that more clearly.
If you have ever felt as though your life no longer fits, I think this one might resonate with you.

One step at a time... 😍
Today I'm celebrating a milestone on my Project 28 journey. I've lost my first 8lb 🎉
Not because everything has been perfect.
It hasn't.
There have been good days, difficult days, holidays, menopause moments, late meals and times when the scales have gone the wrong way.
But I've kept going.
It's about refusing to drift too far away from the life you want.
Every day I reconnect with my goals.
Every week I check my progress.
If life gets in the way, I don't give up.
I reset.
That simple approach helped me lose four stone in the past, and it's helping me again now.
It's also become the foundation of The D.E.S.I.G.N. Method™, the framework I'm now developing to help others redesign different areas of their lives.
This isn't just about health.
It's about creating a life you love living.
✨ If you'd like to follow Project 28, read my weekly reflections and be the first to hear about my new journal, I'd love you to join Jane's Journal.

Flying to a Room Full of People Who 'Get It'
A few week's ago I flew from France to England for a one-day workshop with the wonderful Business of Stories community.
It was the first in-person event run by Susan Payton, and I have a feeling it won't be the last.
There's something incredibly powerful about sitting in a room with people who are walking a similar path. Different businesses. Different lives. Different stories. Yet so many of the same hopes, fears, doubts and dreams.
Because the workshop centred around our stories, the conversations went far deeper than the usual networking event. People shared real experiences, real challenges and real reasons behind the work they do.
One exercise really stayed with me.
We each spoke about what we are creating and why it matters. Then our small group reflected what they saw in us.
It was fascinating.
Sometimes other people can see strengths, qualities and themes that are almost invisible to us because we have lived with them for so long.
It reminded me how valuable it is to occasionally step outside your own head and let others hold up a mirror.
I came home feeling inspired, energised and even more certain about the direction I'm taking.
Sometimes one day away can save you months of second-guessing yourself.
PS. I was also called 'glamorous' because of the piccy I posted in our group just before boarding 😍😂
It was the quickest picture taken ever before my feet got stuck to the tarmac! I was sooooo hot waiting to board 😱♨️

I was sitting in the hospital cafe drinking a cup of tea, waiting to meet my half-brother for the first time in 27 years.
I was nervous, but excited too.
We had started chatting a week or so before after our dad had been admitted to intensive care.
His alcohol addiction had won. His family had lost.
I had not seen him for seven years. We had spoken here and there during his sober periods, but it was hard. Really hard.
Years earlier, he had come to stay with me and made me realise I had lost my sparkle.
I had lost Fun Jane.
The playful, adventurous, carefree side of me had disappeared somewhere along the way.
He was a bit like Peter Pan.
Never wanting to grow up.
And perhaps that was why I recognised so much of myself in him.
The fun.
The spontaneity.
The sense of adventure.
Somewhere between getting married young, raising children and being responsible for everyone and everything, I had lost those parts of myself.
Seeing him helped me remember who I was.
Looking back, that was the beginning of finding myself again. A journey that eventually led me to leave my marriage and redesign my life.
I told him years later that he had changed the trajectory of my life.
I think he was quite surprised.
What I never really got the chance to tell him was how much I loved him.
Not properly.
Not while he could answer back.
Only later, when he was lying in intensive care.
Today I understand far more about addiction and how it affects everyone around it.
What I did not expect was that out of all that sadness would come something wonderful.
A sister.
A brother.
Family I never really knew.
So today, on Father's Day, I am thinking about my dad.
He was not perfect.
He was not easy.
But he was still my dad.
And despite everything, I loved him.
Happy Father's Day up there.
My Peter Pan ❤️

Project 28
Another evening. Another 2km walk.
I am building this up night by night, one step at a time.
Project 28 is my current health and fitness goal and part of me using my D.E.S.I.G.N. Method in real life.
The method is built on everything I have learned through years of setting goals, creating change, and intentionally designing a life I love living.
No quick fixes.
No dramatic transformations.
Just small, consistent actions repeated over time.
Because lasting change is built one choice at a time.
If there is an area of your life you would like to redesign, send me a message with the word DESIGN.

As I lay there on the rocks, shocked, hurt, and wondering what I had broken, I realised I'd been ignoring what I knew deep down for a long time.
I wasn't happy.
Two days before my 50th birthday, I'd fallen down a flight of concrete stairs onto rocks.
At the time, I was stressed, overwhelmed, and taking on a project that didn't feel like me at all.
From the outside, my life looked fine.
Inside, I felt lost, stuck, and unhappy.
I'd stopped loving myself.
I had no clear direction and worried I wasn't pursuing the dreams and goals that mattered to me.
And I felt guilty for feeling that way because I knew how lucky I was.
The next morning, I gave a client their deposit back because I realised I didn't want to do the work.
Something needed to change.
Looking back, that fall changed my life.
It was the moment I stopped living by default and started designing a life I loved.

*** These pictures were taken a few days after my birthday, when I felt a little better and could move! It was seeing these pictures that motivated my weight loss journey … but that’s another story for another day 😉

You may have noticed something different about my content recently, it’s because I’ve been doing something a bit different …
I’ve been weaving more stories in 😊
It all started when I jumped on Susan Payton’s free 5 day storytelling challenge last year - and it blew my socks off.
I absolutely loved the simple process she showed us for crafting compelling stories - that have seen engagement on my posts and emails go UP ⬆️
Now Susan’s running her free 5 day challenge all over again, starting Monday 8th June, and I highly recommend grabbing a spot!
It only takes a few minutes each day to take part and, by the end of the week, you’ll have a simple process for sharing stories in your business that you can use for years to come.
I enjoyed it so much last time I’ll be dipping in again this time, so if you fancy joining me – I’ll see you in there!

As part of my office revamp and decluttering project, I found the box containing some of my teaching qualifications.
I cleaned them, repainted the frames, and finally put them back on the wall.
Looking at them made me smile.
I left school with six low-grade CSEs but stayed on in sixth form, and that is where I consider my real learning journey began.
School was not easy for me.
I found learning difficult and spent years believing I was not particularly academic.
But something changed when learning became connected to the real world.
Business skills.
Teaching.
Training.
Practical application.
Suddenly, things started to make sense.
Since then, I have gained a degree, teaching qualifications, countless in-house training certifications, and a rather long list of qualifications collected over a lifetime of learning.
I later discovered I was a compensated dyslexic, which explained a lot.
But those certificates represent far more than qualifications.
They represent perseverance.
Confidence.
Growth.
A love of learning.
And a career spent helping others learn, grow, and develop.
They remind me that where you start does not determine where you finish.
And yes, I hung them all by eye and somehow managed to get them straight. I am quite impressed with myself. 😊
