Ace last 5 days with Aaron on what was originally a Matterhorn plan A but changed to an Eiger due to the current conditions.

A top 5 days out with ascents of the Arête Marion in the Aravis, a Perrons Traverse, an Eiger Miteleggi / south ridge traverse in outstanding conditions and a Chapelle de la Glière in the Aiguille Rouges today as a chilled last day out.

I’d completely forgotten just how good the Glière was, an awesome last day today. Top effort Aaron all week 💪🏼

I’m free Tuesday and Thursday this next week if anyone fancies a Chapelle Glière (or similar). DM!

Ace last five days out with team 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 again.

A stormy and difficult week weather wise and one that shifted from a couple of high mountain objectives to a Stockhorn sudgrat and Pizzo Badile North Ridge.

Lots of walking in / out of huts in the rain but two great days of climbing in between. Was great to get back on the Stockhorn again too after last years ascent, good to finish it off.

A few years in with regular trips with team 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 now. Both smashing anything you throw at them and good to be reminded that Codie is only 16 so loads more to come 💪🏼

Thanks to Josh Fawcett Yorkshire’s newest and bestest Aspirant IFMGA, for coming along for the ride.

Until the next time…

Great last 4 days out with Michael to start the summer alpine season with a bang.

On Monday we climbed the excellent Arête a Marion in the Aravis to warm up. Always excellent and quiet this time round.

Tuesday saw us traverse l’Argentine above Solalex over the border in Switzerland. Still as long as I remember tho just as good too and we saw no one all day 👌🏼

Yesterday we climbed the Tour Ronde SE ridge out and back. Definitely one of the best views in all of the Mont Blanc massif, mega.

Today we climbed the Dent du Geant from an early start at the Torino refuge. We were out in front all day and saw no one until our descent from the salle à manger.

An excellent first trip out this summer and great to see Michael put so much work in over the last 3 years we’ve been getting out together, steadily building up to climb these things he would have once thought impossible for him 💪🏼

Arete a Lawrence and Cosmique Arete Chamonix 09/05/2026

Rare (and very good quality!) footage of me at work yesterday on the Cosmique arête.

I would guess I’ve climbed the Cosmique arête maybe a few hundred times now over the last 25 years. It’s always a little different and is still one of my favourite routes at the AD grade in the Alps.

Thanks Arran for the video!

Another lap over the Brèche Puiseux in Chamonix today, this time with Arran. I’ve done this tour loads of times and think it’s one of the best Chamonix has to offer.

You get to ski (most of) the classic Vallée Blanche as an approach, have a pretty hefty skin to test your skills, a 300m climb up a couloir carrying your skis before 2 abseils take you into a super wild feeling combe under the north face of the Grandes Jorasses, one of the jewels in Chamonix’s crown.

It blends all the skills required and is a perfect ‘a bit more’ than ski touring, definitely into the realm of ski mountaineering.

A great descent on perfect spring snow under the Jorasses rounded off this quintessential Chamonix classic. Perfect training for Arran’s upcoming ski Mont Blanc 👌🏼
