The 2 Caps Challenge (*Défi des 2 Caps*) is an extreme open-water swimming event involving a round-trip swim between Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez on the Opal Coast in France covering a distance of approximately 22 to 24 kms in cold, technically challenging waters. The notion of a "night" swim implies an exceptional nocturnal undertaking or stems from confusion with other events in the region, such as night trail runs. The 2 Caps Challenge – Location: Opal Coast (Pas-de-Calais, France), between Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez. Distance: Approximately 22 km to 30 km (round trip), depending on the specific routes approved by the *Défi des 2 Caps* Association. Difficulty: Cold water, strong currents, and heavy maritime traffic in the English Channel. Night swimming: Swimming this route at night significantly increases the danger due to total darkness, the lack of visual reference points against the cliffs, and tidal conditions; this necessitates a highly qualified es**rt boat and strict lighting markers.
