Labasa takes over as league leaders

The Extra Premier League title race has taken another twist, with Extra Supermarket Labasa climbing to the top of the standings after an impressive 3-1 comeback victory over Coastal Rental Cars/MMM Brothers Nadroga FC at Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa.

The Babasiga Lions fell behind in just the second minute after Tuidama Gosai gave Nadroga an early lead, but a dominant second-half display saw Labasa score three unanswered goals to secure all three points and move to 25 points from 12 matches.

Dayal's Sawmillers Ba FC slipped to second place after being held to a 1-1 draw by Tagimoucia Nadi FC, while Stratum Rewa strengthened its title challenge with a convincing 4-0 victory over Lautoka despite playing with 10 men for much of the match. The Delta Tigers are now third on 22 points, with Lautoka dropping to fourth.

Nasinu FC boosted its campaign with a 3-1 win over Tailevu Naitasiri, while Prithvi Navua FC surrendered a two-goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Global Care Suva FC.

With only one point separating the top two teams, the race for the Extra Premier League crown is shaping up to be one of the closest in recent years, with every remaining fixture carrying significant importance.

The Extra Premier League resumes this Sunday with five exciting fixtures set to be played across the country as teams look to strengthen their positions early in the 2026 season.

A blockbuster encounter awaits at Churchill Park where Lautoka FC hosts defending champions Stratum Rewa FC at 1pm. Both sides will be aiming to make an early statement in what is expected to be one of the weekend's biggest matches.

At the same time, Tailevu Naitasiri FC welcomes Nasinu FC to Ratu Cakobau Park, with both teams eager to collect valuable points.

BiC Fiji FACT champions Dayal’s Sawmillers Ba FC will take on Tagimoucia Nadi FC at Govind Park from 3pm. Ba will be looking to make home advantage count, while Nadi will be determined to spoil the party.

Another intriguing fixture will see Navua FC face Global Care Suva FC at Uprising Sports Centre at 3pm.
