A-Grade National Rankings Deliver Thrills in Nausori

The Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji successfully hosted its A Grade, 3rd National Rankings Snooker Tournament over the weekend at the Nausori Club, where the nation’s top 24 players converged for an intense and entertaining two-day competition.

The event delivered high-quality snooker, dramatic turnarounds, and several unexpected upsets that kept spectators on edge from start to finish.

One of the early surprises came in the pre-quarterfinals, where South Seas Club’s Nitesh Chand was knocked out by Nausori Club’s Esala Talebula, setting the tone for a day filled with bold performances.

The quarterfinals continued the drama:

Sahil Prasad (Nadi Sports Club) overcame Pritesh Khatri (Nausori Club).

Francis Ram (Nausori Club) defeated Navneil Maharaj (South Seas Club).

Deepak Ram (Nausori Club) ended the run of clubmate Esala Talebula.

The biggest upset saw Raymond Reddy (South Seas Club) eliminate Fiji No. 2, Jiten Prasad (Nausori Club).

In the semifinals, Nausori Club’s stronghold became clear as Deepak Ram defeated Raymond Reddy, while Sahil Prasad continued his strong form by defeating Francis Ram.

The final showcased two of Fiji’s best: Fiji No. 1, Sahil Prasad, against Nausori Club’s consistent performer Deepak Ram, Fiji's No. 3. Rising to the occasion, Deepak delivered a composed and clinical performance, securing a 3–1 victory to claim the tournament title.

The event was hailed as a resounding success. BSAF extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Ambika Nand, President of Nausori Club, for his outstanding support, warm hospitality, and generosity in hosting the tournament.

The action continues this week as B Grade players take the stage at Nausori Club for their National Rankings event.
