The Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC), through the Oceania Impact Network (OIN), has begun an inspiring week at the IWG Global Summit on Women & Sport in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Day One reinforced a powerful message: achieving gender equality in sport requires more than increasing participation - it requires removing barriers, investing in long-term partnerships, creating safe sporting environments, and empowering women and girls to lead.

ONOC Vice President and Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee President Emma Waiwai captured the spirit of the day:

"We need to move beyond sponsorships and build genuine partnerships. We have a uniquely Pacific story to tell, and by sharing that story authentically, we can attract the people and organisations who want to invest in long-term change."

Today, the Oceania Impact Network takes centre stage with its featured SHIFT Session:

"The Oceania Impact Network: Proof That Another Way is Possible."

The session will showcase how Pacific-led collaboration, participatory grantmaking and community leadership are transforming sport across Oceania and inspiring global conversations on gender equality.

The Pacific is not just part of the conversation - we're helping shape the future.

ANNOUNCEMENT: TEAM KIRIBATI โ€“ Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026

The Kiribati National Olympic Committee (KNOC) through Selection Justification Committee is proud to officially announce TEAM KIRIBATI for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026.
This team has been confirmed following the work of the Selection Justification Committee, which carried out its responsibilities from the Pacific Mini Games in Palau 2025 and has now finalized the athletes who will represent Kiribati on the international stage.
All athletes are reminded that compliance with the policies and requirements of the SJC is mandatory. Failure to comply may lead to removal from Team Kiribati.
Currently, Team Kiribati is undergoing a two months training camp program, financially supported by KNOC and strengthened by the Kiribati Governmentโ€™s provision of venues and facilities. These camps are designed to sharpen performance, build confidence, and prepare our athletes for the challenges of international competition.

๐Ÿ’ช We call on families, communities, and the people of Kiribati to unite in spirit and stand behind our athletes. Your encouragement will inspire them to succeed and proudly carry the Kiribati flag at the Commonwealth Games.
Together, let us celebrate resilience, determination, and national pride as Team Kiribati steps onto the world stage.
