The OPEN ONWF Nordic Walking European Championships Bełchatów 2026 brought together nearly 1,000 participants from 23 countries and turned Bełchatów into the heart of the international Nordic Walking world.

But an event of this scale is never created by one person or one organization.

Ercilia Tesone comes from Vicente López, north of Buenos Aires, where she leads her own Nordic Walking group, “Tribu by Erci”.

Her passion goes far beyond Argentina. She has already travelled to Mexico, where she gave a presentation about Nordic Walking at the Chamber of Deputies of the Mexican Parliament, and soon she will continue this mission in Bolivia.

She wanted to get to know ONWF more closely and gain an internationally recognized qualification for her future development.

Cecilia Marcheschi comes from La Plata, where she leads two Nordic Walking groups. She joined the ONWF education pathway because of the international recognition and value of our certification.

Two women. Two cities. One passion. Another important step for Nordic Walking in South America. ❤️

Marinko has a background from the Faculty of Kinesiology and a lifelong passion for sport, health and functional movement.

Today, much of his work focuses on helping older adults maintain mobility, strength and independence. Nordic Walking has become an important part of these activities, combining full-body endurance with outdoor exercise.

Jolanda works professionally in physiotherapy in an orthopedic hospital.

She sees every day how important correct movement, joint health and regular physical activity are for quality of life. In her free time, she also works with older adults, helping them exercise safely and effectively.

For both Marinko and Jolanda, Nordic Walking is a tool for health, independence and a better quality of life. 💚

Helmut Gruber’s story proves that it is never too late to change your life.

At 42, after nearly 20 years of very little physical activity and long days spent behind a computer in the IT industry, he decided to make a change.

He first discovered cross-country skiing and fell in love with its technical side. When winter ended, Nordic Walking appeared almost by accident – a team needed one more competitor.

That “accident” became a passion.

Helmut began refining his technique and training seriously, eventually finishing 19th out of more than 800 competitors.

For him, that was only the beginning.

He decided to become an ONWF Instructor so that he could now share his knowledge and passion with others. 🥢🔥

Different professions. Different experiences. Different roads to Nordic Walking.
