Those who save lives cannot become targets.
In Gaza, Sudan or Ukraine, humanitarian workers are being attacked while trying to reach people in need.
In South Sudan alone, 36 humanitarian workers have lost their lives this year.
This World Humanitarian Day, we stand with humanitarians everywhere. Their protection and safe, unimpeded access are non-negotiable. The EU is one of the world's largest humanitarian donors and we are determined to stay the course.

Since 2008, EU naval Operation ATALANTA has helped secure around 2,500 vessels carrying more than 3.3 million tonnes of food assistance to Somali ports.
The EU not only funds aid. It helps protect the routes that get it there.

📜African Youth Charter @20: From Promise to Prosperity: Day 2 of in Bujumbura! 🇧🇮
🇪🇺EU Ambassador to AU, H.E. Javier Niño Pérez, highlighted the evolving role of young people in Partnership stating that, “More than beneficiaries of our partnership, young people are recognised as its ‘shapers’.”
The morning plenary session, hosted by the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), reflected on 20 years of the African Youth Charter and what it takes to strengthen meaningful in governance.
He also stressed that and are essential architects of peace, from conflict prevention and mediation to strengthening social cohesion and a culture of peace.
The discussions continued through four thematic sessions focused on advancing the role of youth and women in peace, security and governance. ✊🏾
