Ebro Catfishing

Another action packed slug fest on the lower with clients Gavin Hoe-Richardson and Dave Beattie, with a decent haul of moggies up to 154lb. The river is still running high, but the brown rain water has been fining off over the past days. Despite this, there was consistent action each day of the trip - and a surprise capture of Sea Bass by Gavin!

It has been a crazy week on the with dramatic fluctuations in water levels, but despite this we have managed a respectable haul of 14 - including a couple of ton plus at 136lb & 128lb.

A wet start to the 2026 season here on the lower , with a high & coloured wintry river greeting us for the opening sessions.

There has been some steady action to warm up the crew - with 6 boated during this short trip by Mike, Wayne & Neil. 3 fish in the 80s were as good as it got, but no sign of the behemoths!

A nice way to finish off the summer sessions on the with first time visitors Lee & Simon. They had an enjoyable time out on the water, catching up to 122lb!

More sizzling summer action on the over the last few days for Lee Glacken, Luke Miles & Alex Browne. The have been feeding well in warm water conditions, with two captures over the 100lb mark - a 136lb for Luke and a new PB for Alex at 126lb. Lee also bagged a couple of fish in the 60 - 70lb class to round off an enjoyable short break on the river.

The fishing has been a bit up and down this past week in searing heat, with temperatures hitting the mid 30's. At times the fish have been somewhat lethargic, but in the windows when they have switched on to feed, there has been some epic action. Mark Wilkinson had a mega half hour - boating cats of 153lb & 155lb back to back, with the second fish taking the bait almost immediately after the capture of the previous one!

Rising water temperatures have activated the on the lower over the past few days - and regular visitors Pete Harrison, Jon Alder, Del Cannell & Mark Gregory have been hauling plenty of slugs onto the boat. Biggest capture was a bruiser of 179lb - a new PB for Del! Other 3 figure fish included a 135 for Pete and a 100 for Mark, with 15 boated during a productive trip.

Resumption of guided for the summer season began yesterday, and the early signs are promising with 6 boated in the first two sessions, including this lump of 166lb for Kes Vincent this morning 🐟

Nigel Chapman & Paul Richardson have enjoyed a short break on the lower during the past couple of days. They have bagged half a dozen moggies, including a behemoth of 150lb which fell to Nigel's rod having accepted a bait close to a snag in the margins south of Amposta.

The river has been dropping and losing colour, which has made bites generally harder to come by than some of the March sessions.

We will now be taking a break from guiding for for a couple of months - catch reports will return in early June!
