What an incredible week of golf at The Cairns Cup 2026!

Europe were crowned champions for the very first time, defeating Team USA 18 - 6. But the final score doesn’t tell the whole story.

The matches were far closer than the scoreline suggests:

🏌️ Fourballs
• 1 match went to the 18th hole.
• 2 matches went to the 17th hole.

🏌️ Foursomes
• 2 matches went to the 18th hole.
• 2 matches went to the 16th hole.

🏌️ Singles
• 7 matches went to the 18th hole.
• 2 matches went to the 17th hole.

So many matches could have gone either way, highlighting just how evenly matched these two outstanding teams were.

Europe held their nerve to lift The Cairns Cup for the first time in the event’s history, but both teams demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, sportsmanship and respect throughout the week. The camaraderie between Team USA and Team Europe was truly inspiring and perfectly reflects what this competition is all about.

The overall series now stands at USA 2 – Europe 1, setting the stage for another thrilling contest in 2028, when The Cairns Cup returns to the USA.

🏌️‍♂️❤️ The Cairns Cup Adaptive Golf Clinic – Inspiring Golf for Everyone ❤️🏌️‍♀️

On the Tuesday of The Cairns Cup, we were proud to host an Adaptive Golf Clinic, and what an incredible success it was!

Players from Team Europe and Team USA spent time with people from the local community living with disabilities, sharing their passion for golf, offering encouragement, and proving that this truly is a game for everyone. There were smiles, laughter, new friendships, and plenty of unforgettable moments throughout the day.

One particularly inspiring story came from a double amputee who was on holiday from Texas and staying at the same hotel. He joined the clinic after not having played golf for four years. His determination and enthusiasm reminded us all that golf has the power to change lives and that no one should ever think the game is beyond them.

The clinic inspired many participants to pick up a golf club for the first time or to return to a sport they thought they could no longer enjoy. That is exactly what The Cairns Cup is all about—breaking down barriers and showing that disability is never a barrier to achievement.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a memorable experience.
