Sustainability at the 2026 470 World Championship in Enoshima 💙
With one of the largest 470 fleets of the season, the championship created an important opportunity to make sustainability part of the event from the very beginning. Rather than trying to offset environmental impacts after they happened, the sustainability strategy focused on reducing them at source 💪🏼
470 Class is following the Clean Regattas Best Practices, and the strategy is based on the World Sailing 🌎⛵️ Sustainability Agenda of 2030, and the data set and report have been submitted to Sailors for the Sea for certification 🌊

The 2026 470 World Championship in Enoshima, Japan, has come to an end!
British sailors Martin Wrigley and Bettine Harris claimed the World Championship title after two very demanding Medal Races on the final day.
🎙️ “It’s so surreal after we had such a tough start. I mean, I don’t even know what to say. It’s unbelievable. And I think it’s especially special being here in Enoshima, where obviously Tokyo Games weren’t that long ago. It feels like the home of the 470. Like, we’ve had so many boats here”, said Bettine.
🎙️ “Biggest world since it went mixed. And I just, I’m so unbelievably happy. I’m proud of Martin. I’m proud of our coach Gidi. I’m proud of Hannah and James. It’s just been a great kind of two months”, she added.
The silver medal went to the German team Theresa Löffler and Christopher Hoerr, while the Spanish team Jordi Xammar and Marta Cardona took bronze.
