A week later. Still thinking about the San Juans.
Hardrock week, through a different lens.

Hard races demand hard decisions.

Tom Evans spent the opening hours exactly where he wanted to be. Calm. Controlled. Running the Hardrock he’d prepared for.

At 4200m above sea level, the altitude, steep climbs and mining trails are challenging for even the most experienced athletes.

Altitude sickness brought his race to a close at KM 83, and knowing when to stop is also part of this sport.

Respect to Tom, and to everyone who shares the spirit of Hardrock.
