🍂 5 tips to ease smoothly into autumn
Autumn is a season of transition. Look at nature: the trees begin to shed their leaves. We can do the same.
1. Sort, select & let go.
What do you want to carry with you through winter? Which “seeds” do you want to keep, nurture and allow to germinate again in spring? And what are you ready to release — habits, relationships, projects, activities, old ways of doing things? Autumn invites us to simplify.
2. Eat warm foods.
Start the day with a warm porridge, choose nourishing cooked meals, and enjoy warm herbal teas. As the temperature drops outside, bring warmth inside.
3. Keep your body warm.
A hot-water bottle on your belly or lower back before sleep can be wonderfully comforting. And yes — warm socks help too.
4. Lubricate & warm your joints.
Massage your hips, knees, ankles, shoulders and other joints with warm coconut oil. The warmth and massage help you feel more supple and grounded, while the oil nourishes dry skin and turns this into a simple autumn self-care ritual..
5. Practice Jala Neti.
This traditional yogic nasal-cleansing practice uses a neti pot with lukewarm sterile or previously boiled and cooled water mixed with the appropriate amount of non-iodized salt. It can help rinse the nasal passages and keep them clear during the colder months.
Autumn doesn’t only ask us to add things to stay well. It also asks a beautiful question:
What am I ready to let go of? 🍂
