Rocío Marte | Rest Teacher as a gen x woman, i wanted to give myself a daily container to pause, reflect on my own story, and share some of it with you.

so i did.
for 21 days, i showed up.
i wrote.
i filmed.
i learned.
i shared.

and yes, the technology can still feel exhausting.
i’m learning that most of it is just practice.
what has changed is that i’m not only talking about my work anymore.

i’m letting you get to know the person behind it.
and that feels like a pretty good place to finish 21 days.

thank you for being in this slowing down community Rocío Marte | Rest Teacher stay here for more.

Rocío Marte | Rest Teacher i think my relationship with my body started changing when i was 23.

that was when i had my first surgery for fibroids.

at first, it was about my body.

understanding what was happening.
trying to feel better.

trying to find ways to live well inside it.

and over the years, that relationship became bigger.

i started paying attention to my mind too.

how i spoke to myself.
how i responded when my body changed.
how much i expected from myself.

how to meet myself with more compassion and kindness.
for the last 10 years, i’ve dedicated so much of my life to finding ways to be more at peace with myself, inside and out.

i’ve explored so many different resources and approaches.
and this hysterectomy became another resource.

my fibroids had grown to a point where they were affecting my bladder and other organs, and we couldn’t work around them anymore.

so i made the decision to have the hysterectomy.
and there is something very peaceful for me in knowing that i tried.

i tried what was available to me.
i stayed curious.
i learned.
i changed things.
i listened.

and when it was time for a different kind of medical care, i listened to that too.

this journey has shaped the work i do now.

what started as my own search for a better relationship with my body and my mind has become the work i share with my clients.

because i know what it is to keep learning how to be with yourself through change.
thank you for being here.

i’m looking forward to continuing to share this journey

Rocío Marte | Rest Teacher i finally figured out why naps stopped working for me.

if you’re exhausted and still can’t sleep, here’s what i’m learning about what’s actually happening.

in my mid-40s, i’m having to relearn how to come down.
not just how to sleep.

how to move from doing, thinking, answering, organising and being on my screen into a state where my body can actually soften.

i’m experimenting with this every day.

a little walk outside.

feeling the breeze.

looking at the trees.

leaving the screen.

reading one page.

then lying down and noticing what happens.

sometimes i sleep.

sometimes i don’t.

but i’m noticing that the transition itself matters.

and i’m curious about this now.

how do we learn to come down again when our bodies are tired but our minds are still going?

i’ll keep sharing what i’m discovering.

follow me Rocío Marte | Rest Teacher and let’s keep figuring this out together.

i used to think slowing down meant stopping my life.

so i kept going.

working.

creating.

achieving.

filling every space.

until i realised i was exhausted from living that way.

so i started making small spaces to pause.

to breathe.

to walk.

to listen to my body.

to do nothing.

and slowly, something changed.

i realised i didn’t need to stop my life.

i needed to be present inside it.

that’s what slowing down has taught me.

after years of overworking myself, my body eventually got to a point where getting out of bed felt difficult.

i went looking because i was exhausted.

i didn’t learn how to rest from one person.

and somehow, i was still feeling bad because i was “just tired.”

so i started looking for ways to downregulate, be supported, slow down, and come back to myself.

these are some of the people and resources i kept returning to.

Uma Uma Dinsmore-Tuli PhD ADHD helped me quiet my brain.

Octavia Octavia F. Raheem helped me remember i’m human.

Lizzie Lizzie Lasater | Yoga for Women 40+ helped me loosen my perfectionism and remember that slowing down can be messy, easy, playful and joyful.

Tracee Tracee Stanley taught me how to stop creating and simply receive.

and eventually, all of that learning, together with years of teaching and my own experience of exhaustion, became my 50-hour Restorative Training.

one of the biggest things i’ve learned is that tiredness isn’t something we need to make wrong.

your body isn’t failing you.

it’s having a very human response to exhaustion.

and judging yourself for being exhausted just adds another layer of suffering.

rest can be an oasis of permission to be a human being.

a way to unplug.
a way to exhale.

a way to come back to the present moment.

i used to think slowing down meant stopping my life.
now i know it means being present inside my life.

and now, all of this learning has become a training of its own.

my 50-hour Live-Online training is open worldwide and starts 26 september.

so excited to see this come to fruition.
