New Junction bar

Big thanks to those who came to my closing party last night and making it a memorable night at New Junction bar , starting with my good mate Wayne Ward and Lisa in the afternoon for a beer . Thanks to Ruben T for a brilliant performance. The after party until about 3am was pretty messy too , as the bar today looked like a bomb had hit it today when I went to clean and empty the bar. I got to bed at 4.30 this morning very drunk and have been rough as out all day 🤢.

Hi everyone,

It’s with great sadness and regret that I’ve made the decision to step away from New Junction Bar to pursue other things, until a new owner is found. Therefore, Saturday 8th August will be my final night behind the bar and, unless a new owner is found before then, the bar will also close from that date.

As many of you know, I took the bar back over in March following a lengthy legal process. Rebuilding the business from that point was always going to be an uphill battle. I took it back with debts, a significant loss of customers compared with over a year ago, and a bar that needed a lot of work. Despite knowing the challenges ahead, I wanted to give it everything I had.

Most of you also know that I work full-time during the day and then run the bar at night. Over the last month or so, I’ve had to accept that I’m not Superman. As much as I’d like to think I can do everything, the reality is that I no longer have the time or the energy to give the bar what it truly needs and deserves.

I’ve also noticed since taking the bar back that the area just isn’t as busy as it once was. Many people have said the same to me, and it has certainly made attracting customers much more difficult than I ever expected. That’s not an excuse—just another challenge that many local businesses seem to be facing.

I also have a new chapter in my life ahead of me, with new opportunities and, ultimately, away from Benalmádena. Coincidentally, this month marks 36 years since my very first visit here to see my grandparents. They gave me the opportunity to build a life in Spain and, eventually, to buy this bar, something I’ll always be grateful for.

Some people may see this as a failure. I don’t.

For me, this is a new beginning. It was about standing up for what I believed was right and giving this business one last chance. I can honestly say I gave it everything I had. Sometimes, despite your best efforts, things just don’t work out the way you hoped. I can walk away with my head held high, knowing I gave it my all.

Now it’s time to move forward, learn from the experience, and start planning the next chapter of my life, which will most likely be away from Benalmádena after nearly 11 wonderful years.

I’d like to sincerely thank every customer who walked through the door, everyone who supported the bar, those who helped bring people in, everyone who entertained here, and everyone who worked alongside me. Your support, friendship and encouragement have meant more than you’ll ever know.

I’d also like to thank those closest to me for all your support, especially my girlfriend, Vlada, and my mum and dad, who have had to support me through all of this. I’d also like to thank my closest friends for their support, encouragement and understanding. I truly couldn’t have got through it without you.

Finally, if you can, please come along on Saturday 8th August. I’ll be having a closing party with the very talented Ruben T singing, party music all night, and plenty of drinks offers. I’d love to see as many of you there as possible.
