You don’t need to know what’s wrong.

You may have something you’d like to get back to. Perhaps you’ve stopped running, you’re more careful with your back or knees, your balance doesn’t feel as trustworthy as it once did, or you’ve simply stopped doing things you used to enjoy.

Maybe you’ve tried different things already but still feel unsure about what to do next.

That’s why I created the 90-Minute Possibilities Session.

We start with what’s happening for you.

There isn’t a predetermined programme or a particular outcome we’re trying to achieve.

We explore together through movement and conversation. I’ll observe, ask questions and we’ll see what we discover.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your story.

You can book a free Possibilities Call through the link in my bio, or just send me a DM.

Sometimes it helps to start with a conversation.

Maybe you think:

“My balance is terrible.”

And perhaps it is something you’ve thought about yourself for years.

So when you find yourself somewhere that challenges your balance, you’re already expecting to wobble.

You might feel apprehensive.

Without really noticing it, you hold your breath. You stiffen. You organise yourself differently.

Maybe you start avoiding uneven ground, or situations where you don’t feel quite so secure.

And then, when you do wobble:

“See? I knew it. My balance really is terrible.”

I find this really interesting.

Because where does the balance problem begin and end?

Is it simply about muscles, joints and strength?

Or are the stories we’re carrying, what we expect, how we feel and how we organise ourselves all part of the experience too?

This is why I don’t tend to look at movement or at a person as a collection of separate problems to fix.

We’re more interesting than that.

And when we become curious about the whole experience, sometimes we find more options than we realised were there.

There is more going on than what is tight, weak or painful.

This idea sits underneath much of the way I work.

When someone comes to me because their balance has changed, their back hurts, they’ve stopped running, or they simply don’t trust themselves in movement in the way they once did, it can be tempting to look for the physical problem.

What’s weak? What’s tight? What needs fixing?

Of course, the physical matters. But it’s rarely the whole experience.

What we believe about ourselves matters too. So does how we feel. What we can sense. How we organise ourselves in response. And ultimately, what we do — or perhaps stop doing.

These things aren’t separate, and they don’t happen in a neat sequence. They are continually influencing one another.

A belief can change how we approach a movement. Fear can change how we breathe or how much we brace. What we sense can give us information we didn’t have before.

And sometimes, a different experience can begin to change a story we’ve carried about ourselves for years.

This is the framework that has come to shape how I work.

Not another way to analyse everything that might be “wrong” with you, but a way of becoming curious about more of what is happening.

Because the more we can notice, the more information we have. And with new information, we may discover new choices.

What we cannot sense, we rarely have the opportunity to change.

At the beginning of this year, I chose one word.

Possibilities.

I came across the post again recently and it made me smile.

I wrote:
“Possibilities don’t come from doing more or pushing harder. They come when I slow down enough to notice what’s already here.”

At the time, I don’t think I realised quite how much that one word would come to shape the way I think about my work.

Again and again, I see how easily we form stories about ourselves.
“My balance is terrible.”
“My knees won’t like that.”
“I’d better be careful.”
“I can’t do that anymore.”
“My running days are over.”

Sometimes those stories are based on very real experiences. Pain. Injury. Ageing. Fear.

But I’ve become increasingly curious about what happens next.

Do we keep exploring? Or does the story gradually become something we simply believe about ourselves?

For me, Possibilities isn’t about pretending anything is possible.

It’s about staying curious enough to ask:
What might still be possible?

Eight months later, I think I understand my word for the year better than I did in January. 💛

Being careful isn’t a bad thing. Sometimes it’s exactly what we need.

But I’m interested in what happens when being careful becomes something we do automatically.

Maybe it started after an injury, pain, a diagnosis, a fall, or simply because something didn’t feel as easy as it once did.

And gradually, without really deciding to, we stop doing certain things.

I’m not suggesting we should ignore our limitations or push through them.

I’m suggesting we get curious about them.

Is this something I can’t do?

Or is it something I’ve become cautious about doing?

There’s a difference.

And sometimes, curiosity gives us the opportunity to discover:

What might still be possible?

This is one of the ways I think about human experience.✨

When we move, we’re never “just moving.”

Our beliefs, emotions, sensations, the way we organise ourselves and our actions are all happening together, continually influencing one another.

And I find that hopeful.

Because we often try to create change by changing what we think or how we feel.

Stay positive.

Be confident.

Don’t be afraid.

Tell yourself you can do it.

And sometimes that helps.

But sometimes we need to experience something different.

To notice something we hadn’t noticed before.
To discover another possibility.

To move and realise…
“Oh. That feels different.”

That experience gives us new information about ourselves.

And perhaps that’s where another possibility begins.
