Only about one in 1,000 sea turtles make it to adulthood; from the moment they hatch, life is a battle for survival. But climate change is exposing them to even greater threats.⁣ ⁣ Along with the potential for sea level rise to erode their beach habitats, and warming seas harming the coral reefs some species depend on, studies have found that warming temperatures resulting from climate change are having a dramatic and potentially devastating effect on sea turtle populations. Since their s*x is determined by the temperature of the sand during incubation (higher temperatures produce females, cooler temperatures produce males), increased temperatures can shift the s*x ratio of hatchlings, making it difficult for sea turtles to reproduce in the future.⁣ ⁣ #TurtleTuesday⁣ 🎥: @jacintashackleton 24/03/2021
