š¦ Shark Awareness Day
What's the first word that comes to mind when you hear the word shark?
For many people it's fear.
But what if we've got them all wrong?
Sharks have been patrolling our oceans for over 400 million years, helping to keep marine ecosystems healthy and in balance. Without them, the underwater world we loveāincluding the incredible reefs of the Red Seaāwould look very different.
Here's something you might not know...
In many shark species, including oceanic whitetips and hammerheads, the females are often larger than the males. Nature has never been afraid to challenge our expectations.
Sadly, sharks face far greater dangers from humans than we do from them. Overfishing, bycatch and the shark fin trade have caused many populations around the world to decline dramatically.
This Shark Awareness Day, let's swap fear for fascination.
Because the more we learn about sharks, the more we realise they're not the villains of the oceanāthey're one of its greatest protectors.
Have you ever been lucky enough to see a shark in the wild, or is it still on your diving bucket list?

One holiday. Two unforgettable experiences.
Egypt is one of the few places where your trip doesnāt fit into a single category.
The Red Sea gives you colour, silence, and weightless freedom underwater.
Luxor gives you scale, history, and stories carved into stone.
Itās contrast that somehow works perfectly together ā sea and desert, stillness and history, present moment and ancient past.
Two completely different worlds. One unforgettable journey.

Some questions can feel a little⦠awkward to ask. š
Can I dive on my period? Will my hair be ruined by the sea? Will my mask mess up my skincare? These are all questions Iāve been asked over the years.
The truth is, nearly every woman has asked at least one of these questions during her diving journey. Theyāre completely normal, and you should never feel embarrassed to ask them.
Thatās exactly why I wrote this blog ā to answer some of the questions that women often worry about but donāt always feel comfortable asking.
If thereās something youāre wondering that isnāt covered, just send me a message. I promise thereās no judgement here, and no question is ever too small. š

"Can I scuba dive on my period?"

Over the next few weeks, I want to share a few diver stories from people Iāve had the privilege of spending time in the water with.
Not polished versions. Not marketing lines. Just real journeys into diving.
Kathrynās story is one that stayed with me.
She learned to dive back in 1996 in Scotland while studying Marine Resource Development and Protection at Heriot Watt University. From seabed surveys and fish farm work, to cleaning penguin pools at Edinburgh Zoo, diving has been woven through every chapter of her life.
āOooh the glamourā¦ā she laughs when she talks about it now.
Years later, diving followed her through UK wrecks, overseas adventures, and eventually to Egypt ā where our paths crossed.
Some people donāt just learn to dive once. They carry it with them through every version of their life.

Thinking about trying scuba diving?
Most people donāt decide because of a price list or a package.
They decide because something about the idea of it wonāt leave them alone.
That feeling of wanting to see what itās like underwater.
To breathe somewhere completely different.
To do something that feels a little outside your usual world.
If that sounds familiar, youāre not alone ā itās usually how it starts.
And it doesnāt have to be a big, intimidating step. Most divers I meet started exactly there⦠just wondering.

This one feels a little different. ā¤ļø
Iāve spent a while wondering whether to share this story.
Today, people see a diving instructor. They see the qualifications, the underwater adventures and the smiles after a dive. What they donāt see are the nerves, the anxiety, the poor air consumption, the terrible trim, and all the moments I questioned whether I was good enough.
I wasnāt born a confident diver.
As part of Womenās Dive Month, I wanted to start by sharing the dive that changed everything. The dive that challenged me, changed my perspective, and ultimately led me to where I am today.
If youāve ever been nervous about diving, doubted yourself, or wondered whether youāll ever āget it,ā I hope my story reminds you that every confident diver started somewhere.
Iād love to know what you think after youāve read it.
