True sport begins not with medals, but with respect.

In sport fencing, this philosophy dates back to the days of duels. Every match begins and ends with a salutation of the blade directed at the opponent and referee. This is not just a beautiful tradition, but a symbol of respect, honor, and the values upon which a true athlete’s path is built.

At SBSK, we believe that high results are impossible without a strong character. That’s why, during training, children learn to respect their partners and opponents, maintain discipline, trust their coach, accept victories and defeats gracefully, support the team, and value their own work.

This athletic environment helps develop not only technique but also confidence, self-control, and inner resilience—qualities that last a lifetime.

SBSK is a school where skill, character, and a culture of respect are shaped through sport. 🤺

Fencing + Aikigoshinkan — Comprehensive Child Development ⚔️

Modern children’s training is most effective when combined. This approach helps develop a child physically, intellectually, and psychologically.

Fencing develops reaction time, a sense of distance, speed of thought, and strategy. Aikigoshinkan develops balance, coordination, motor control, confidence, and emotional stability.

What this combination provides:
— Coordination and balance
— Quick reactions and decision-making
— Proper footwork
— Concentration
— Calm under pressure
— General physical fitness
— Self-confidence

Aikigoshinkan teaches body control and the basics of self-defense.

Fencing helps apply these skills dynamically and competitively, paving the way from beginner to international tournaments as an Olympic sport.

We combine elements of both disciplines, creating a strong athletic foundation without early narrow specialization.

SBSK is a school where movement becomes a system. ⚔️

High results are never a coincidence. Behind every athlete are years of systematic training, professional mentoring, and daily self-improvement.

At SBSK, we develop more than just fencing technique. We cultivate athletes who are able to think, make decisions under pressure, maintain composure, and strive for continuous improvement.

That’s why SBSK students have been part of the Estonian national team for many years and have represented the country with distinction at major international competitions.

Among them:

Maksim Serhovets, Andzej Gedzo, Ilian Bobrov, Igor Guljaev, Violetta Gulakova, Liza Manajenkova, Filipp Djatsuk, Jevgeni Blinov, Leon Gedzo, Anna Prela, Erik Tobias, Valentin Altunin, Nikita Doronin, Elizaveta Bobrova, and Ivan Novoseltsev.

Sergey Bobrov, the founder, director, and head coach of SBSK, holds a special place in the school’s history. From 2015 to 2023, he was a member of the coaching staff of the Estonian national team, working with cadets, juniors, U23 athletes, and the men’s national team.

For us, making the national team isn’t a goal in itself, but a logical result of a sound training system, many years of experience, and high standards.

SBSK is a school that creates not only champions but also athletes ready to represent Estonia on the international stage.

The learning path in fencing is not a collection of random movements and exercises. It is a system built step by step by the coach, with an individual approach—from the first basic elements to the student's competitive performance.
How does this work at the SBSK fencing school?

Foundation: the foundation of technique and discipline
The student develops fundamental skills, develops a sense of distance from a partner, masters stance, movement, and lunges, learns to listen to the coach and feel their body.

Adaptation and Individual Pace
All students develop differently, so at the SBSK school, each coach organizes the training process taking into account the individual characteristics of the children in the group and adjusts the load to ensure consistent and effective progress.

First Sparring
Understanding combat through strategy and tactics develops, and mistakes become tools for growth, not a cause for stress.

Psychological Preparation
The child learns to cope with anxiety, maintain concentration, and trust their actions.

Entering Competition
When you have a foundation, confidence, and an understanding of the process, starting out becomes a logical step, not a test.

A strong result is always a well-planned path, not a quick success.
The SBSK fencing school offers systematic student development: from beginner to confident athlete.

⚡ Hyperactivity isn't a problem.

It's energy that needs to be channeled correctly.
This is why the Aikigoshinkan method at SBSK has proven so effective in working with children who struggle with sustained attention, impulsivity, and inner peace. 🥋

Why does it work? 👇

🌀 Control through self-awareness of one's body's capabilities
The child learns to consciously control their body through coordination, balance, and structured technique. Energy gradually becomes manageable.

🎯 Developing concentration
Repetition, attention to detail, and consistency help develop focus and the ability to sustain attention.

🛡️ Discipline and emotional balance
Training develops self-control, inner resilience, and helps the child cope more calmly with emotions and external stimuli.

🏆 Confidence through progress
When a child sees their own growth and begins to better control themselves, they gain confidence and motivation to move forward.

🥋 Aikigoshinkan at SBSK is more than just a self-defense system.
It's a method that helps develop a child's character, concentration, and inner confidence. ❤️

🏆 Students of the Month – Alex Konsap and Jevgenia Bobrova 🏆

Every success in sport begins with daily work, discipline, and the desire to improve. That's why this month we are especially proud to present two athletes who have earned the title of "Student of the Month" at our sports school – Alex Konsap and Jevgenia Bobrova.

⚔️ Alex Konsap began fencing at our school in 2022. Thanks to his hard work and determination, he has risen to become one of the strongest épée fencers in Estonia in his age group. Alex is the Estonian U12 (2024) and U14 (2026) champion, the national U14 ranking leader, and the captain of our school team last season.

⚔️ Jevgenia Bobrova has been part of our sports family since the age of three. Inspired by her older brother and sister, she took up fencing and quickly became one of the country's top athletes. Evgenia is the 2026 Estonian U12 Champion, the 2025 Estonian U12 Championship silver medalist, the 2024/2025 Masters Cup winner, and the national U12 girls' ranking leader.

✨ Alex and Evgenia are shining examples of our school's new generation of athletes. Their achievements are the result of years of hard work, perseverance, and a genuine love of sport.

Congratulations to our students of the month and wish them new victories and continued success on the track! 👏🏆⚔️

⚔️ Defeat is not a sign of weakness.

It’s part of the journey of a strong athlete. 💪

And it’s precisely competitive fencing practice that teaches a child how to handle such moments correctly.

Why is this important? 👇

🏟️ Experience that training doesn’t provide
On the track, everything is real: the psychological pressure of an opponent, the score, and responsibility for their decisions. The child learns to make decisions here and now.

🧠 The ability to analyze, not give up
Every defeat is not a reason to give up, but an opportunity to analyze your actions during the match: where you went wrong, what you can improve, and how to act more effectively next time.

🎭 Emotional control
Victories and defeats are always about emotions. Over time, the student begins to understand that one missed hit doesn’t determine the outcome of the fight. What matters is not what happened a second ago, but how the athlete acts next. It’s this kind of psychological resilience that shapes a strong and mature athlete—not only on the fencing track, but also in life.

Psychological preparation in fencing helps you cope with tense moments, maintain concentration, and keep your cool.

🏆 Resilience and Character
The child begins to understand that defeat isn’t the end of the road, but a step toward the next level and future victories. This is how inner strength and athletic character are developed.

✨ A strong athlete isn’t someone who always wins, but someone who knows how to lose well.
SBSK School is a systematic approach to child development, where character, self-control, and inner confidence are developed alongside technique.
