Saturday follow up
The Adult Education Division continues to provide support to the adult population with their skills businesses.
it is interesting to see many adults use their hands to produce these innovative products. These include massage services, cakes, flower arrangements, cake decorating, scrunchies, clothing apparels, pastries among others.
Support all the adults who take time off to learn a skill. Purchase their products and services.
Your support is important as we continue to grow the small business sector in Dominica.
Inserted is Mrs. Marilyn A. Cuffy-Morris, MAANZ Ltd. and the Adult Education Officer for the Kalinago Territory, Mrs. Adassa Lockhart-Davis. Can you believe her mother was the facilitator for the flower arrangements shown in the photo? Well done.
The Adult Education Division is doing their part so support them.

Fun Fabulous Friday.
I was very elated to be called by the Ms. Honore, the Founder of I Have a Right Foundation which focuses on the development of girls to present a training during the Summer holidays. The training was delivered during the month of July, 2026 at the Foundations headquarters in Wesley.
I was pleased to deliver on the topic, "Entrepreneurship & Hustle Skills" focusing on -
a. Developing an Entrepreneurial mindset
b. Identifying business opportunities and fostering innovation
c. Business planning, budgeting, and financial literacy
d. Marketing, branding, and customer service
e. Goal setting, productivity, resilience, and ethical entrepreneurship
Those present received tips and strategies to help them develop their entrepreneurial mindset whilst focusing on making money.
Entrepreneurship is a journey and people who endeavor to travel that path must be ready for the long road. These young ladies were ready and I used creative ways to bring the message forward to them using games and role plays.
I look forward to being a mentor to these girls as they move on with their lives.
Thanks to I Have a Right Foundation.
Contact me at [email protected] for training opportunities. My book, I'm a child, I'm not too young, tell me now was used as the support resource for this training.

Pain Points to Profits Podcast
“Are you working harder for your business than the people you are paying to help you build it?”
Topic: Lack of Committed Workers – When Employees Don't Take Your Business Seriously
• Tasks constantly require reminders and supervision.
• Workers show little initiative or accountability.
• Deadlines and customer requests are treated casually.
• Employees appear interested in the salary but do not show interest in the business operations.
Real life example -
A small business owner works alone but has employed one employee to assist on off days but that employee complains of being sick or arrives to work late, when the employee only works three days a week. Due to this the owner is always tired and feels burnt out.
The main message: Sometimes the problem is the employee—but sometimes the business has no clear job descriptions, KPIs, accountability system or consequences for poor performance.
How do we solve this? - Measure performance, not presence - Don't assess someone simply because they came late to work. Measure outputs such as:
What tasks were completed?
How many products were sold?
How many leads were generated?
What are the revenues being brought into the business?
Therefore, do this on a weekly basis to check the employee’s performance. Then do a formal review with the employee.
Reward for performance and address where there is underperformance.
Recognize employees who consistently deliver, however, discuss the poor performance and next steps. A business who has an employee who is underperforming can lose money.
Every employee should understand how his or her role contributes to the success of the business.
Call to Action – So if you have a business, monitor the employee’s performance and be guided by the above.
Next week we tackle - “Poor Customer Service – How Bad Service Is Quietly Costing Your Business Money.”

Tuesday tips - "Just do the work"
It is important to continue to do the work. Success is inevitable when you continue on your path. Can you imagine riding a bicycle and trying to achieve your goal by reaching the finishing line first?
If you continue riding as fast as possible the end result will be you hopefully achieving the ultimate goal which is to be the winner. If you start riding, then stop, ride again then stop you will most likely not achieve your goal.
It is the same principle that if you are on track to complete something then just continue to do so and you will eventually reach the finish line.
Be motivated. The Business Training guide, entitled, Don't doubt yourself, just stay focused, Ex*****on phase, Chapter 1 speaks to Motivation yourself. Have a read. You will not regret it.
So just do the work and complete daily tasks towards your ultimate goal.

Motivation Mindset Monday
As we move towards the end of August, 2026 let us look back on the challenges as well as the wins.
The topic today is "Celebrate your wins"
You are a business owner, a business manager, someone who is working very, very hard at your business but you lack the discipline to celebrate yourself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating your wins. Whether you have achieved wins in your personal life or business, take the time to celebrate your wins. The celebration could be just having an ice cream, a slice of cake, a fresh drink, a sea bath, a hot water bath. Whatever, it is, always celebrate yourself whenever you have achieved a goal.
I received my fruit basket because I won. I was able to inspire many young students of the Convent High school where I delivered a topic a "Don't doubt yourself.
