Why run 1,400 marathons?

If you ask Ulrik Pihl, the answer isn’t about glory. It started with a beer on a beach in Thailand, a healthy dose of stubbornness, and a first race he calls a complete disaster.

Two decades later, he’s chasing a massive milestone: 1,000 marathons under four hours. But strip away the numbers, and Ulrik is just a guy who needs his daily fix. He runs to see his country, clear his head, and share miles with friends – rain or shine.

We sat down with Ulrik to talk about running through the hard days, putting serious mileage on the Nostara, and why a man with almost 1,400 finish lines still doesn’t call himself a “great” runner.
