THE EXPATS ARE BACK! 🦁😤

Lessons from Monday evening: never doubt the Expats. It was a stunning display of football by the lads, who came onto the pitch organized and hungry for a win. Maybe the key is just taking Valerio off the pitch. Or maybe it helps when big Lucas is upfront looking like a better hairstyled version of Zidane, opening the score and putting in the third, with Rui’s goal in between. And what about that ball from Connor, bending it like Beckham for Luis’ header (Luis header?!?) to kill the game just before half time. And then Daniel T. capped it off with a finish from outside the box after a great ball recovery. The defense put in a stellar performance, including a headed save by Connor on the goal line to preserve the clean sheet, but everybody should be applauded for an amazing game today.

Wowzers. Better tell everybody you know: the Expats are back. 🦁💙

It hasn’t been an easy start to the season for the Expats, but it all starts to make sense when you realise that our defensive rock Scott hasn’t played yet this season. But now he’s back, tanner than ever, and so for Expats fans there’s hope to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And he’s promised he won’t perform at Golden Lion’s karaoke until the Expats get that ‘0’ off their points total. The mindset of champions. The mindset we’ll need on Monday evening against Fuglebakken. Come on Expats! 🦁

Life without Costello. It was another rough afternoon for the Expats, as we were beaten by a skilled Aros FC side despite a scoreless first half, where the lads had been solid at the back. The first goal after 60 minutes broke the tie, and the nail in the coffin was when Connor’s equalizer à la Robin Van Persie was ruled offside, after which the lads’ confidence was gone and the a few more goals followed.

It’s a tough season but we’ll get back on our feet. Win or lose, always up the Expats. 🦁

🔙 TIME TO BOUNCE BACK

A difficult away fixture against Aros FC awaits the Expats on Saturday, but after a week of relatively moderate alcohol consumption (pending Friday’s temptations) and a good training session under our belts, the hopes are high to come home with a positive result. Better be ready to leave everything on the pitch. COME ON EXPATS! 🦁

Tough loss today for the Expats, in a game where we never stood a chance against a strong Hasle side. We knew it was not going to be easy going into the game, as we had a bunch of new lads on the pitch and several key players out. However, Shane did manage a cheeky nutmeg on a former colleague of his towards the end of the game. That’s a small win in our books.

The season is long, so surely the good football will come. Eyes on this week’s training to build some chemistry and then Saturday for an away match against Aros. Always up the Expats!

Our first lineup of the season is here. Turns out, Shane’s departure to Copenhagen is only happening later in the month, which means he’s available for a couple of games and also that the farewell tribute we gave him last season was pointless. But we’ll gladly take that. Connor apparently fell off the train last night (??), so he’s questionable for the game. Looks like a strong start of the season. Come on Expats! 🦁

🎶 THE LADS ARE COMING HOME AGAIN! 🎶

What a long summer break it’s been. No Expats games. No tactical sessions at the Lion the night before the match. No football coming home, yet again.

But don’t despair, Expats fans, because football will surely be back home this Sunday, when the lads take on Hasle Boldklub, kicking off the new season with the very same fixture that closed the previous one. And even though some lads have left us since then, fuelling the doubts about the future of this football club, all worries will be past us once we walk on the pitch at Holme Skole and wear that glorious Expats shirt, ready to fight for it — just as if nothing ever changed. COME ON EXPATS! 🦁⚽️
