With many thanks to guest reporter Helen Harrison, here is the Fælledparken parkrun report from this past Saturday ☀️💛😎
FÆLLEDPARKEN
F aelledparken, I found you with such ease.
Thanks to you, Belinda, for your quick email responses,
And for your most friendly welcome, Kenneth.
This is a perfect setting to collect an ‘F’ for the Alphabet Challenge,
Or a Danish flag to extend your international challenge.
Æ a grapheme that is not in our English alphabet but one I cannot miss out!
Without it Faelledparken would not be the same name,
And without Faelledparken parkrun each week,
There would be many disappointed people missing out on fun, friendship and exercise,
All contributing to the Hygge feel so important in Denmark.
L ot of runners and walkers began to congregate,
Wisely sheltering from the sun under the trees.
Happy chatter could be heard,
Excited people delighted to see each other, especially …
Anja and Lars who were there dressed in their pre-wedding park run clothes.
Not many Park runs can boast a wedding celebration like today’s!
A huge thank you for the coffee truck you organised,
Sharing your day with your parkrun family.
L ovely volunteers were valued and thanked individually by Suzanne our RD.
Coordinated by Belinda.
Amazing, cheerful volunteers fulfilling each essential role,
Cheering us on our way, keeping us on track and greeting us as we finish.
Without you all, none of this would be possible.
Thank you So, So Much!
E verybody is always welcome at a parkrun.
It was lovely to see so many visitors here today from far and wide.
England: visitors from Hastings, Newcastle, Cambridge, Harrogate and was it Nottingham?
Scotland: Jayne, Caitlin, Grants and baby Oran,
And our friend from Australia celebrating a 100th parkrun.
Sorry I didn’t catch your name☹
How amazing it is …
You can come from all over the world,
Join in a parkrun full of complete strangers,
Yet feel you are part of the big worldwide family.
D on’t ever think park runs are for the fast runners alone.
No speed is too slow.
No need to say “I can’t”, ‘I’m too old”.
I said that, but now I run a bit, walk a bit,
Or ‘Park Walk ‘it to promote walking as healthy exercise.
How I love my 5K challenge each Saturday morning.
P ushchairs, even double buggies sped past me
Enabling toddlers to enter into the spirit of parkruns
What an excellent example –
I’m sure one day they will want to be running alongside
Or even way ahead of their enthusiastic adults!!!
A nd what more could I expect in Copenhagen,
Many runners arrived on their bikes!
What a joy it has been to see cycling as a significant mode of transport in Copenhagen,
Promoting health and fitness and a cleaner eco-friendly environment!!!!
R emarkable to say the least, to meet up with Lis and Elizabeth,
Both celebrating their 70th birthdays this week.
And what dedicated runners they are,
Lis the woman who has chalked up the most parkruns in Denmark - 624
And Elizabeth who has also achieved 415.
They are big acts to follow – today was my 192nd
After my daughter passed on the parkrun buzz to me
When I was 68!
K eep coming everyone!
Enthusiastic walkers and runners regularly up and out for 9 am,
Enjoying the early morning air,
Meeting up with friends,
Making new friends,
When many are still in bed.
E njoy your day, everyone.
I am on holiday today so more time to explore Copenhagen from the canal.
For others of you, it may be the daily round and common task.
But first, perhaps, stay around,
Celebrate your achievement with that coffee and tasty treat.
N ow I will be back in England next week,
But I will be thinking about you all.
And in 2 weeks, remember you will be celebrating your 700th parkrun,
That will be a CELEBRATION.
