A nice feature in the September issue of Soaring Magazine:

“Stunning Stemme Safari.”

Two Stemmes, from Nevada to Alaska and back: 9,200 km, 100 flight hours over 22 days, motoring only 25% of the time and soaring 75%.

Beyond the numbers, it is also about the freedom a Stemme offers: travelling independently across vast distances, exploring exceptional landscapes, and combining real touring capability with the pure pleasure of soaring.

Definitely worth a read in the September 2026 issue of Soaring Magazine, available online through the Soaring Society of America. The online magazine library includes the latest 2026 issues, available to SSA members.

Sharing the passion for soaring with the next generation

At Boston.com University, the Gliding and Soaring Club (BUGS) is giving students a unique opportunity to discover aviation and experience soaring first-hand aboard a Stemme S6.

With the support of Kenn Sebesta, Boston University lecturer, flight instructor and Stemme S6 owner, students have the opportunity not only to experience soaring, but also to connect what they learn in engineering and aerodynamics with real flying.

Some are now working towards their pilot licences, while others are discovering aviation from an engineering perspective – designing and building their own gliders.

A great example of how passion, education and aviation can come together – with a Stemme S6 helping to make it possible.

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡
Learning to fly begins the same way for everyone: a glider, a winch launch and an instructor.
We were delighted to welcome members of the Saudi Aviation Club to Aérodrome de Namur - EBNM for several days of flying, learning and exchanging ideas.
From the ASK 13 to the Stemme S12, and from local soaring flights to a cross-country journey to Le Touquet, each flight revealed a new dimension of soaring.

Beyond the flying itself, this visit was another opportunity to continue the dialogue that began several months ago. We exchanged ideas, shared experiences and reflected on how gliding can inspire future generations of pilots while opening new perspectives for aviation, education and adventure in Saudi Arabia.

As Saudi Arabia continues to develop general aviation as part of Vision 2030, we look forward to continuing this dialogue and exploring how these first experiences could one day inspire soaring adventures above the spectacular mountains and desert landscapes surrounding Madinah.

From their base in Minden, Nevada, Markus Lewandowski and Klaus Ohlmann flew where few gliders have ever been, through British Columbia, deep into the glaciers of Alaska , powered not by fuel, but by the invisible energy of the atmosphere itself.

And back to Minden.

A historic expedition. Uniquely possible on a Stemme.

A few weeks ago, we shared the inspiring vision behind the Soar Hawaii Foundation.

Today, that vision became reality.

Congratulations to K**a, the very first recipient of the Founder’s Flight Scholarship, who experienced his first soaring flight in the Stemme S10.

Every pilot remembers their first flight. We hope this one will be the beginning of a lifelong passion for aviation.

A big thank you to James Alaggio and the entire Soar Hawaii Foundation team for making opportunities like this possible. We look forward to seeing many more young people discover the magic of soaring.

What does it take to explore one of the last great wildernesses on Earth?

A Stemme S12G and S10VT are currently soaring through the Saint Elias Mountains along the Alaska Panhandle, where towering peaks rise directly from the Pacific Ocean and glaciers stretch beyond the horizon.

According to the Mountain Wave Project team, this is the first ever soaring expedition in Alaska.

More than a remarkable aviation adventure, it demonstrates a unique capability: travelling thousands of kilometres under power when needed, then switching to pure soaring and using the energy of the atmosphere to explore some of the world’s most remote mountain landscapes.

This is the freedom that defines the Stemme experience.
