This morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming partners and guests to an exclusive working breakfast at the Santiago Bernabéu, co-hosted by José María Fernández, Head Groundsman at Real Madrid C.F., and Horst Theisen, our CEO.

We are grateful for the opportunity to return and hear directly from the team responsible for one of the world’s most technologically advanced stadium pitches.

The morning included exclusive access to the Bernabéu hypogeum, complemented by presentations, valuable conversations and networking.

We’re hiring – Electrical Service Engineer, UK ⚡

Turf Lighting Solutions, part of the Rhenac Group, is looking for an electrical engineer to join our UK service team.

You’ll work with the latest turf lighting technology, supporting advanced systems at professional sports venues across the UK, with international travel as part of the role.

It’s a home-based position with a company van, hands-on technical work and plenty of variety.

If you enjoy hands-on engineering, troubleshooting and working with advanced technology in the field, this could be a great fit.

At GroundsFest Academy on 14 October, TLS - Turf Lighting Solutions and Consolidate Turf Health Solutions will examine how light, heat, irrigation, nutrition and timing can be managed through the colder months.

The day will include a comparison of HPS, LED and CLS® lighting, a live pitch-side demonstration and a case study on liquid nutrition and winter turf recovery.

In enclosed or shaded stadium environments, air blowers and spray cannons can help grounds teams manage these conditions more effectively.

Air blowers support surface drying, canopy airflow and humidity reduction.

Spray cannons can support evaporative cooling when heat becomes a limiting factor.

Together, these tools help reduce leaf moisture, support temperature control and lower disease pressure.

Because in today’s stadiums, the air above the pitch matters almost as much as the soil below it.

🌿 Not all grass species respond in the same way.

Cool-season grasses, such as ryegrass and bentgrass, perform best in cooler conditions.

Warm-season grasses, such as Bermuda and zoysia, are built for higher temperatures.

That means they respond differently to light, heat and stress.

A lighting strategy that supports one species may not be right for another.

The right light recipe should reflect the grass species, the climate, the season and the recovery goal.

With 16 years at Rhenac, Peter has played a key role in driving technical innovation and product development. Combining deep technical expertise with a collaborative approach, he helps turn ideas into practical solutions that support the future of sports turf lighting.

When he's not working, Peter enjoys spending time with his family, relaxing in the garden and exploring new places around the world.

Turf lighting on its own doesn’t tell the full story.

Supplementary lighting only does its job when it’s considered alongside shade patterns, turf condition and how heavily a pitch is used.

That system includes the stadium environment, the grass species growing in it and the season it’s growing through. It also means monitoring usage levels, heat, humidity and wind, and setting realistic recovery targets rather than working to a fixed maintenance schedule.

At Rhenac, this is the shift we’ve built for: from lighting rigs to connected turf management, combining data and years of research to give grounds teams the tools to manage recovery with precision.
