What a season 🍾 it has been for the Hamburg Exiles 🖤🖤🖤 as newly promoted side in the Regionalliga Nord.

The season is over, and what is probably the most international rugby team in the German Rugby Union has secured second place in the table straight after their promotion. A team that has grown even closer together over the past year. One that has worked even harder on its weaknesses and strived even more vigorously to further build on its strengths in this physical sport.

“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved,” says our South African head coach and former professional rugby player, Andre van Niekerk . “The team has managed to develop continuously. And the status quo isn’t enough for us yet. The Exiles will use the off-season to continue working hard on themselves so that they can deliver an even better performance on the pitch next season.”

We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks for the tireless support of our head coach Andre, our backline coach Rian Viljoen and our forward coach Trevor Pretorius. A big thank you also goes to our players’ wives, who have supported us so well throughout the season, and of course to the Exiles fans on the touchline.

Jose !!! Thank you for putting your body on the line for the Hamburg Exiles last season! We loved your continious aggression, your commitment and the will of fighting for every inch of the pitch! Unfortunately, you had to end the season slightly early due to a broken bone in one of your games for the exiles. Please recover quickly!

You represented your country 🇵🇹 in the best way you could. We as a club gained a valuable family member and we are very sad to let you go back to Porto next week!

However, once an Exile always an Exile. We are hoping to see you very soon and perhaps the next time when we are touring to Porto 🇵🇹 playing against you and your home club. All best for you Jose and let’s keep in touch in the meanwhile.

What a game from the lads, they put their bodies on the line and fight until the last second to get a win. 💀🔥

Our Exiles let the hosting team take a large advantage during the first half during Ricklingen was hitting well the space.
The second half was much more equilibrated and the red and black took the game to their side and pushed really hard to get the bonus point. The first in the league, after a fatal counter attack, killed the hamburg team hope to get closer on the scoreboard. ⚫️🔴🦅

2026 marks a very special milestone for the Hamburg Exiles Rugby Club as we celebrate our 60th Anniversary.

We are delighted to invite you to join us for a full day of rugby, entertainment, and celebration, culminating in our 60th Anniversary Summer Ball.

16:30 – Children’s Touch Rugby
18:00 – Welcome Drinks and Official Event Start at the Verbandsheim

Your ticket includes a buffet dinner and a welcome drink. Additional drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.

Throughout the day and evening there will be live music, speeches, and entertainment, followed by a DJ to keep the celebrations going into the night.

Yesterday, marked the Hamburg Exiles’ final home match against , and it was a crucial game in which we were aiming to secure second place in the table ahead of .

Bremen fielded a powerful forward pack, ensuring that our front row had to give all they have against a relatively heavier Bremen forward line. It was a physically hard-fought match with various injuries, broken noses and minor surgical procedures on the sidelines.

Bremen fought hard right up to the last minute, but couldn’t score enough against a more agile-looking Exiles side. Thanks to the hard work of the front row and the subsequent quick counter-attacks from our backline, Bremen were powerless for the majority of the match.

We are therefore delighted to take this important victory and look forward to the remaining two tough away games against the league leaders and the fourth-placed team .rugby .
