I spend so much time thinking about what’s next.

The goals I haven’t reached yet. The things I’m still working on. The prayers I’m still waiting to see answered.

And then every once in a while, life gives me a moment that makes me stop and think… bruh, look at your life. 🥹

Today was one of those moments.

Standing in the Caucasus Mountains reminded me that I can still want more for my life AND be deeply grateful for how far I’ve already come.

I’m not there yet.

But listen… I’m not where I used to be either. ❤️

And that deserves to be celebrated.

I think I’m officially in my “figure it out as I go” era

New career. New goals. Trying to get comfortable talking to a camera. Apparently wigs now too. 🤷🏽‍♀️

For a long time, I think I felt like I needed to have everything figured out before I showed up. But maybe there’s something really beautiful about letting yourself be a beginner… even when other people can see you beginning.

So here I am. Awkward pauses, questionable wig skills and all. 😂

Here’s to getting comfortable being seen before I feel completely ready.

And hopefully becoming a little less cringeworthy and a lot more bingeworthy along the way.

My mother spent over a week in the hospital and had three surgeries during that time. On Wednesday night, after her third surgery, she was in the ICU. Yesterday, she was discharged.

And today? She packed her bags and went on the weekend getaway she'd been planning for months.

Watching her reminded me that living doesn't have to wait until life is perfect. Sometimes life is hard, uncertain, painful, and completely outside of our contro, and we can still choose to participate in it.

She is truly the definition of LIVING, and I hope someone else is as encouraged by her as I am. ❤️

So much of life is spent thinking about what’s next: the next goal, the next dream, the next version of ourselves.

But lately, I’ve been thinking about how important it is to document the now, too.

The ordinary mornings. The random outings. The people. The places. The little moments that don’t seem particularly significant until one day, they’re memories.

I’m still building the life I dream about, but I don’t want to be so focused on the future that I forget to appreciate the life I get to live today. 🤍

So here’s to getting better at capturing it… even if I forget to record half the day. 😂

Nobody taught us this Episode 3

Sometimes feedback feels like an attack,even when it isn't one.
(I HAVE MY HUSBAND'S PERMISSION TO SHARE THIS STORY)

When our nervous system hears “You hurt me” as “You're a bad person,” defensiveness can take over before we've actually heard what the other person is trying to communicate.

Emotional intelligence doesn't mean you'll never feel defensive. It means learning to recognize that reaction, stay curious, and make room for someone else's experience without immediately explaining yours away.

And parents, this matters with our children too. When they tell us we've hurt, embarrassed, or misunderstood them, can we listen before we defend our intentions?

Your intention matters,but so does their experience.

These are the emotional skills many of us are trying to teach our children while learning them ourselves.

Nobody taught us this. 💛

A quick diversion from parenting content.
Before my husband could change his mind, my bags were packed and I booked our accommodation while we were on the road.
He will be going away for work again soon so I am so grateful that we get to take a spontaneous trip this weekend.

Nobody taught us this Episode 1

Saying “I’m fine” doesn’t make the feeling disappear.

Many of us grew up learning how to hide, minimize, or push away uncomfortable emotions, not how to actually understand them.

But emotional regulation starts with emotional awareness.

“I’m angry” isn’t a failure.
“I’m jealous” isn’t a failure.
“I’m disappointed” isn’t a failure.

Being able to recognize what you're feeling, get curious about why it's there, and choose what you do next? That's emotional intelligence.

And if we want our children to develop these skills, we have to be willing to practice them too.

Because, well… nobody taught us this. 💛

I started watching reality TV for the entertainment and accidentally got a masterclass in what happens when nobody teaches us emotional intelligence. 😅

We expect children to regulate their emotions, communicate their feelings, handle disappointment, apologize, and work through conflict…

But how many of us were actually taught how to do those things ourselves?

The good news? Emotional intelligence isn't something you either have or don't have. These are skills, and skills can be learned.

So we're going there. 👀
