July. Giving the moment you‘re in your full attention.

Recently, my daughter asked me a simple question:
„Dad, why did you choose this job?“ 🤔

The truth is, the answer hasn’t changed in over 15 years.
I genuinely enjoy helping people.

Whether it’s reducing pain, improving performance, supporting recovery, or simply giving someone the confidence to move again.

Looking back, June perfectly reflected why I still love doing what I do. Professional athletes chasing marginal gains. ⚽️

Executives trying to stay healthy under constant pressure. 🧑🏻‍💻

Young athletes developing their skills.

People who simply want to live with less pain and more quality of life.

Different goals.
Different stories.
Same purpose.

Thank you to everyone who trusted me throughout June.
On to July. 📆

WHAT BUSINESS CAN LEARN FROM ELITE SPORT

Here are five lessons from our performance workshop series NEW-Gruppe last week, that stood out:

1. Stress is not the enemy. 🤗

Stress is your built-in high-performance system. The better you understand it, the better you can regulate it.

2. Stress prepares the body for action. 💪🏽

Acute stress is getting your system ready to perform. The challenge begins when the body is prepared for action, but modern work keeps us sitting still. Movement helps. Always.

3. Stress is an output. 💡

Your nervous system responds to the amount and quality of the input. Information overload, negativity and constant task-switching come at a neurological cost.

Problems arise when you don’t have the resources to respond accordingly.

4. Capacity can be measured. 📊

HRV can provide valuable insights into recovery, resilience and stress capacity. What gets measured can get managed.

5. There are multiple ways to become more resilient. 🤓

1: you can improve your ability to regulate stress in the moment.
2: you can increase your long-term capacity to handle stress.

We discussed both approaches — and why the combination is where sustainable performance happens.

The goal is not to eliminate stress. The goal is to build a system that can thrive under it. ✌🏽

We don’t rise to the level of our motivation.
We perform within the limits of our capacity. 🤔

Most people try to manage stress by removing stressors.
But life doesn’t work that way.

There will always be deadlines.
There will always be uncertainty.
There will always be pressure.

The question is: How much can your system handle before it starts to spill over?

Build a stronger nervous system.
Build better recovery.
Build better fitness.
Build better habits.

Don’t just reduce stress.
Build a bigger bucket.

Off-season is always one of the busiest times of the year.

While most people think it’s a period of recovery, for many athletes it’s actually the biggest opportunity for improvement. 📈

It’s the time to address old injuries, improve movement quality, build strength, improve conditioning and prepare the nervous system for the demands of the season ahead. 🧠💪🏽

The work that happens now often determines what happens months later.

I’m grateful to work with ambitious athletes who are willing to invest in that process. 🙌🏽

And while helping others prepare for their next season, I’m also working on my own performance every day.

Because performance isn’t something you only teach.
It’s something you live.

Most people think nervous system regulation is about relaxing more.

I don’t think that’s the goal.

A healthy nervous system isn’t one that stays calm all day.

It’s one that can adapt.

Perform when performance is needed.
Recover when recovery is needed.

The challenge is that many people are stuck in survival mode for so long that it becomes their normal.

Poor sleep.
Persistent tension.
Reduced recovery.
Less energy.
More emotional reactivity.
Lower performance.

And often they keep searching for solutions in the wrong place.

In my experience, improving nervous system function isn’t just about stress management.

It’s about improving the quality of information the brain receives.

Better sleep.
Better energy availability.
Better aerobic fitness.
Better sensory input.
Better recovery capacity.

Better input creates better output.

What’s one thing you’ve noticed has the biggest impact on your recovery?

No excuses, no fancy setup needed. 💪🏽

A hotel gym + a few smart movement choices can be enough. Add rotation, move through multiple planes, and give your spine what it was built for: movement. Your body (and back) will thank you later.

𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿:

We often admire performance and resilience
in the moments we can see. 🧠

On stage.
In training.
On game day.

But those moments are just the outcome. The real work happens every single day. 💪🏽

In the small decisions.
In the habits that shape your energy.
In the inputs your brain receives—constantly.

How you sleep. 🛌
How you move. 🏋🏻‍♂️
How well your system holds up under pressure. 😓

Because health and performance isn’t driven by motivation. It’s driven by consistency. And consistency is nothing more than repeated decisions that support your energy - not just day by day, but year by year, over decades. 🎯

The same is true for your health. 🤓

Better input. Better decisions. Better performance.
