Dear Footballgolf Family,

WFGA is very pleased to present our tournament schedule for 2027.

Though some rumors have already spread throughout our community (which makes it difficult to sell it as "breaking news"), we nevertheless want to highlight that next year's World Championships will take place in Cornwall from May 20-23.

Not only is it arguably one of the finest footballgolf courses we have, but the chosen date will also guarantee perfect English lawn in combination with statistically good weather and attractive preseason prices for flights and accommodations.

In parallel, WFGA will ensure that an English footballgolf association is founded to attract local players and finally establish a tournament scene in the home of football.

Apart from that, we are happy to announce that Latvia, a member of WFGA for quite some years, will finally have its first Open next summer.

For those who like to combine our sport with travelling, the three successive weeks in the first half of August will offer a Baltic-Scandinavian tour that will cover three Opens and at least one of our new 1-day Challenger tournaments, which will take place in Uppsala directly after the Swedish Open in Alunda.

The intention behind this new format is to offer players the possibility of having two tournaments within one travel, to experience new courses and also to make it easier for them to achieve the maximum of five counting tournaments for the world ranking.

A warm "welcome back" to our Hungarian friends, who in July will present their new course Kisoroszi, located some 40 km from Budapest.

While we are working on adding one or two more Challenger tournaments to the calendar, we are also looking forward to the end of next season, when Inden, one of Germany's very best courses, will welcome players to the European Championships 2027, which we intend to combine with a classic players' evening as a worthy close to our tournament year.

Dear footballgolf family,

as a result of the latest cancellations for the upcoming Spanish Open (02.-04.10) we received a message from the tournament organizer that we can reopen the registration for this tournament on Friday (18.09.) at 18:00 until 25.09. when it needs to be closed again to prepare the tournament.

The new limit is set to 120 players which means that for the moment 11 starting places are available from Friday evening on.

In the probably unlikely case of more than 11 registrations the exceeding players will be placed on a regular waiting list.

Kind regards
Stefan / WFGA

PS: prior to Friday the current waiting list will be cleared as the list should have not been accessible after the decision of the organizer in spring that the waiting list must be closed.

WFGA Info regarding the German Open (11.-13.09.):*
On Friday in Dirmstein we will play doubles only - and we are currently planning for three rounds of doubles. (However, due to time constraints there will likely be a cut after the second round).

That means: Anyone who has to work on Friday can still register for the German Open on short notice (until the end of this week) and then play the full singles tournament over the weekend (12./13.09.).

Call for Members – Temporary WFGA Statutes Committee

Help Shape the Future Governance of the World Footballgolf Association

The current WFGA Board has made it one of its highest priorities to further professionalise the World Footballgolf Association and prepare it for the challenges and opportunities of the years ahead.

As Footballgolf continues to grow internationally, the WFGA must also evolve. During the past months, the Board has already established important foundations for the future, including the WFGA Logo Usage Guidelines and a comprehensive Sponsorship Concept. The next and most important step is the revision of the WFGA Statutes.

The objective is not merely to update the existing document, but to create a modern constitutional framework that reflects the current needs of an international sports federation. Among other things, the revised statutes should establish a legal entity capable of entering into agreements with international partners and sponsors, while also reviewing and clarifying the internal governance structure, responsibilities, and decision-making processes of the WFGA.

* Temporary WFGA Statutes Committee *

To support this important project, the WFGA Board is looking for qualified volunteers to serve on a temporary Statutes Committee.

The Committee will be responsible for:

- Reviewing the current WFGA Statutes together with the comments and proposals submitted by the National Associations.
- Consolidating these comments into a coherent and legally consistent draft.
- Working closely with the WFGA Board throughout the revision process.
- Returning revised drafts to the National Associations for further consultation until broad consensus has been achieved.
- Preparing a final version that can be presented to the WFGA General Assembly for approval.

* Who Should Apply? *

We are particularly looking for individuals with experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:

- Law or legal drafting
- Governance of international sports federations or non-profit organisations
- Association management
- Corporate governance
- Strategic organisational development
- Excellent written English and experience in drafting official documents

We aim to form a committee that, to the fullest extent possible, reflects diversity across countries, genders, and competition categories. Previous involvement in sports governance or international organisations will be considered an advantage.

* Timeline *

- Application deadline: 16 August 2026
- Appointment of the Committee: 1 September 2026
- Committee work: September 2026 until completion of the revised statutes

The Committee will work remotely, with meetings taking place online as required.

* Interested? *

If you would like to contribute your expertise and help shape the future legal and organisational framework of the World Footballgolf Association, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please send your expression of interest, including a short summary of your relevant experience, to the WFGA Board by 16 August 2026.

Together, we can build a stronger, more professional and future-oriented World Footballgolf Association.

Dear Footballgolf Family,

first of all we are glad to inform you that we found an attractive substitute for the International Matchplay tournament in October, which will take place on the same date (16.-18.10.2026) in Verona/Italy.

The course owner Ugo has proved that he is a wonderful host, the weather conditions should be very pleasant at this time of the year and the holes there are very suitable for a matchplay format.
All in all this should become a very nice season ending event and we are convinced that we will have a strong number of participants worthy to play for at least 75 WFGA points – maybe even in a modified matchplay format that will ensure more matches and less dependency on getting a lucky draw.

We also want to express our thank to the Hungarian association for applying with their new, but uncertified course near Budapest.
WFGA is happy in soon having a new opportunity for a Hungarian Open 2027 which we strongly intend to hold next year.

WFGA will announce soon when exactly the registration window for this Matchplay event will start in gscore.

____________

The second news is about a new membership application which we received from Uruguay / South America - and according to the delivered pictures WFGA sees no reason why this application should not be confirmed in the next GA, making Uruguay the newest member of our growing footballgolf family 😊.

____________

Finally we want to inform you that not only the tournament points of the Euro and the French Open have found their way into the WFGA-rankings, but also that we slightly modified the old rule, that points will be granted from 4 players on in a certain category.

Taking into account that we had some tournaments where we had exactly three male (Italy) or female (Pavlikov) Juniors, we think that once a podium is complete, we do not want to let these players down in refusing them ranking points for their success.
So the limit per category is now (and for the 2026 season) reduced from 4 to 3.

Kind regards
WFGA

Dear players,

recently and for a better tournament planing we were asked which of the upcoming tournaments will be held in which mode.

WFGA since has tried to gather as much information as possible and here's what we currently know.

So for the most tournaments we will have on Friday the double tournament and on Saturday/Sunday the entire single competition.
This worker-and family friendly model applies to:

EURO (26-28th June)
French Open: (3rd - 5th July)
Slovak Open (17 - 19th July)
Czech Open (31th July - 2nd August)
Norway Open (14 - 16th August)
German Open (11 - 13th September)

As for the Danish Open it seems to be likewise but this has yet to be approved by the tournament organisators in Nordjysk.

In Spain nevertheless - due to the highh number of players - it will NOT be possible to do it in that mode. Here we will have the tournament in the same way like in the recent years which means that the Singles will start already on Friday.

For the international Matchplay we have to wait until we know where it will take place after Obermain has cancelled it - but we are quite optimistic to find a good and attractive substitute.

Kind regards
Stefan / WFGA
